Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta
DIE-HARD fans of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion are ecstatic about their idols’ reunion for the “Dear Heart” US-Canada Tour 2024. The former couple will give them a taste of their highly successful “Dear Heart” concerts, which drew tens of thousands of fans to the MOA Arena, Okada Manila, and NuStar Convention Center in Cebu last year.
This time, Sha-Gab fans are in for a treat as “Dear Heart” will happen on October 26 at Harrah’s Resort in Southern California, October 27 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, November 2 at The Meeting House in Ontario, Canada, November 15 at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in California, November 17 at Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, November 21 at Club Regent Events Centre in Winnipeg, Canada, November 23 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu, and November 29 at Chandos Pattison Auditorium in British Columbia, Canada.
“I’m just really excited to see people enjoy and have a good time,” Gabby said during an intimate press conference last Monday at SuperSam.
When teased that fans are not only excited for the tour but also for September 23 – the 40th anniversary of their Manila Cathedral wedding – Gabby quipped, “Parang it’s all coming back to me. Hintayan na lang natin ano babalik. But one thing is for sure, wala tayong gagawin kundi mag-e-enjoy,” he added.
Gabby, who turns 59 on November 5, remains enthusiastic about performing and is open to fan requests to bring “Dear Heart” to Europe and even the UAE. “Hindi pa ako nakakarating sa Dubai,” he shared.
The seasoned actor started as a commercial model and became a household name after his big break in the 1980 Regal Films movie Katorse. The next year, he was paired with Sharon Cuneta, sparking a whirlwind romance that led to their wedding on September 23, 1984, and the birth of their daughter, KC Concepcion. It was in the 1990s, while in the US, that Gabby began performing professionally, staging shows for Filipino communities abroad.
“Meron palang ganun na marami kang madi-discover sa sarili mo na hindi mo pa actually alam. Nung pumasok ako sa showbiz, hindi ko naman akalain magiging artista ako. I really wanted to become a dentist and a pilot,” he shared.
Asked if daughter KC, who appeared in the first “Dear Heart” concert, would be able to join the US-Canada shows, Gabby said he remains in constant communication with her, but doesn’t think her schedule will allow it. “I was hoping because the last time, hindi siya dapat kasama, pero biglang nakasama siya… Pero pag sa America kami, based on sa schedule, parang wala siya dun. Pero bibitbitin ko na lang siya,” he joked.
He also explained that previous plans to take the show abroad were delayed due to scheduling conflicts. However, this time, “Dear Heart” in the US and Canada is set to push through with all the original band members, the musical director, and the same production team from the Philippines.
“We want to give them their money’s worth,” said producer Nancy Yang.
