After the record-breaking ‘Hello, Love, Again,” the “Pambansang Best Friend” will be seen in a new GMA series and a historical film.
After the record-breaking Filipino film of all time that is “Hello, Love, Again,” people are asking what’s next for “Pambansang Best Friend” Joross Gamboa? What assignments are lined up for him this 2025?
Truth be told, Joross spent months making up for lost time with this family. After the shoot of his hit movie with Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, he stayed for a couple more weeks in Canada for his other commitments. He took time to bond with his foster families and kababayans in Canada.
Since February though, Joross has already started taping for his series “Sanggang Dikit” on GMA 7.
“I got fascinated with the show’s concept which is light, masaya lang, hindi mabigat pero may kurot din sa puso. It helps that it is directed by LA Madridejos, and working with Dennis Trillo is such a delight. We have worked in ‘Juan Happy Love Story’ and we had such a happy set. Now. it’s doubly fun since we also have his wife Jennylyn Mercado, whom I’ve known since before.
“In ‘Sanggang Dikit,’ I play a pabibong police na credit grabber who is attracted to Jennylyn’s character on the side,” said Joross.
Alongside the new teleserye is a very significant movie that Joross is a part of, Jerrold Tarog’s “Quezon” with Jericho Rosales in the title role.
Joross reveals, “I love to be a part of a historical movie and am excited because I know this will become historical!”
“This will be my first time to work with Direk Jerrold Tarog. I have always heard good words about him that’s why I’m excited, plus working again with Jericho, who is a very good actor. I know this film will be so significant. It is made more special with the inclusion of ‘Game of Thrones’ star Iain Glen in the cast so it’s really star studded.”
Joross is having the time of his life shooting his early scenes. “People will be shocked with my appearance because I’ll play a 60+ year old guy here, but still as handsome as ever. Hahaha!”
With all the set expectations, isn’t it hard to take on a role after the much-celebrated “Hello, Love, Again”?
“I don’t pressure myself… Instead, I just make sure I contribute to a happy set. I always treat any work as my last. I always just enjoy it and give it my all,” wise words from someone who is regarded as Philippine showbiz’ lucky charm.
Inquiries are pouring in on Joross now, but he just takes them as they come. Does he manifest any dream role or project? “I look forward to more happy sets and a possible solo starrer. I don’t actually believe in manifestations. I just accept work that is aligned with God’s will, and where everybody’s happy,” Joross said.
