‘He’s been so blessed and showered with the best compliments by the audience and critics who have given glowing reviews for his performance in the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, “Hello, Love, Again.”’
Our “Pambansang Best Friend” and “Lucky Charm” Joross Gamboa turns a year older today.
He’s been so blessed and showered with the best compliments by the audience and critics who have given glowing reviews for his performance in the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, “Hello, Love, Again” (HLA).
Some movie fans have conscientiously compiled the movie gross receipts of Joross’ box-office hit movies and sent us this: “Hello, Love, Again” – 1B +, “Rewind”- P924M, “Hello, Love, Goodbye” – P880.5M, “The Hows of Us” – P845M, “Starting Over Again” – P579M, “My Ex and Why” – P400M, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” – P387M, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” – P320M, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” -P232.2M, “The Panti Sisters” – P213M, “A Very Special Love” – P185.2M, “My Amnesia Girl” – P164M, “Ang 2 Mrs. Reyes” – P150M, “D Anothers” – P115M and “Can This Be Love” – P100M.

These movies solidify Joross’ magic with the film audiences; the consistency and the variety of roles – even playing a transgender at a certain point – is a testament of his professionalism and versatility.
We caught up with the birthday boy after their movie “Hello, Love, Again” was said to have hit the billion mark. How does he feel about this?
“It’s a great birthday and Christmas gift! That’s why I am truly grateful to be a part of this movie,” Joross said.
“We didn’t expect anything, we just hoped for the best. We just did our best and let God do the rest. It was also a big factor a lot of people loved the prequel, ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ plus they released ‘Hello, Love, Again’ almost the same time around the world…”
To what else can Joross attribute HLA’s success?
“For me they did everything right, from storytelling, knowing the target audience, the execution of the film, and how they marketed it not just here in the Philippines but around the world,” he said.
Joross also got to bond with his co-stars. “During our one month shoot, I had the time to know them more, specifically Alden, because we stayed in the same place. All of us became more open to each and I will forever cherish that.
“It was a blessing that last year, I had a show there for 3 weeks and i gained a lot of friends. So during our shoot, I maintained contact with them and they are the ones who took care of me. Alden and Kath even said ‘Grabe, Joross ang dami mo namang kakilala dito.’ Hahahaha! After shooting, I had a show for Fiesta Filipino and promoted some Filipino businesses there; and at night we were chasing Aurora Borealis; how fun was that?”
How is the all-time “box-office best friend” celebrating his birthday?
“Simply, by spending time with family. “
Offers have been coming Joross’ way – from movies to teleseryes. What are his career goals and wishes for the coming year?
“Actually I don’t desire anything anymore. Whatever God gives me, I’ll do it for His Glory and His Glory alone.
“I am really grateful to Star Cinema and even to GMA for believing in me. Like what I’ve said before, I’m not lucky, I am blessed to be a part of great projects.”
Happy birthday, Joross! Stay blessed and keep blessing us all!
