Acclaimed actress Charo Santos-Concio is best known for her iconic roles in Philippine cinema, with a five-decade career that highlights her talent and versatility. Dingdong Dantes, meanwhile, is a multi-talented actor, director, and producer who has made a significant mark across genres—from romance and comedy to drama and action.

Charo and Dingdong continue to make movies that push their premium as actors and storytellers. One such significant collaboration is the film “Only We Know,” directed by Irene Emma Villaflor, which is set for a wide theatrical release starting tomorrow. But before that, let us backtrack and weigh in on Charo and Dingdong’s most memorable films through the years.

Charo’s film career began with Mike de Leon’s 1976 classic “Itim,” a psychological horror film that marked her entry into the industry. Her performance in the film set the stage for her future success.

Charo’s notable films include “Kisapmata” (1981) by Mike de Leon, a psychological drama that earned her critical acclaim; “Brutal” (1980) by Marilou Diaz-Abaya, where she portrayed a lawyer defending women’s rights; and “Gumapang Ka sa Lusak” (1990) by Lino Brocka, where she played an Imeldific figure in a story tackling social issues. In Lav Diaz’s “Ang Babaeng Humayo” (2016), Charo’s performance brought her to the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, where the film won the Golden Lion, and to the Toronto International Film Festival, where critics praised her as “incredible” and “magnetic.” Other noteworthy works include “Kakabakaba Ka Ba?” (1980), “Kapag Langit ang Humatol” (1990), “Kailan Ka Magiging Akin” (1991) and “Kun Maupay It Panahon” (2021).

Dingdong began his career as a child actor, with early TV and film roles paving the way for his success. Among his most memorable films are two MMFF award-winners: “Segunda Mano” (2011) by Joyce Bernal and “One More Try” (2012) by Ruel Bayani. He won Best Actor at The Eddys for “Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story” (2018) and at the Manila International Film Festival for “Rewind” (2023), where he starred opposite his wife, Marian Rivera. In “Seven Sundays” (2017), he shone in a family drama that highlighted his emotional range. Other standout performances include “A Hard Day” (2021) and “Firefly” (2023), both of which reflect his versatility across genres.

Now, Dingdong stars alongside Charo in “Only We Know” — and we are all excited. The film tells the story of Betty, a 60-year-old retired English teacher, and Ryan, a widowed engineer in his 40s, who form an unexpected connection despite their age difference.

The film explores themes of love, loss and societal expectations, challenging traditional notions of relationships and labels. Dingdong’s character, Ryan, is emotionally bruised, while Charo’s Betty is portrayed as brave and true to herself.

The movie also features a powerhouse supporting cast that includes Shamaine Buencamino, Joel Saracho, Al Tantay and Max Collins. The film took nearly seven years to bring to life, with production facing multiple delays due to scheduling conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic. But this should all be worth it. In the film’s advance screenings, its poignant storytelling and dreamy cinematography have been commended, with many noting its impactful message about life and love. Charo and Dingdong‘s on-screen chemistry has been praised, with critics describing it as “heart-fluttering” and a “casting masterstroke.”

We can’t help but look forward to supporting two of our most loved and most respected actors and industry leaders in “Only We Know,” so see you in the theaters starting tomorrow!
