Coco, Bela make it to summer film fest

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) executive committee has revealed the eight entries in its first summer edition last Friday.

A bioflick, romance, drama and comedies comprise the entries. Leading the list is Brillante Mendoza’s “Apag,” starring Coco Martin, Lito Lapid and Jacklyn Jose from Centerstage Productions.

Next is “Single Belles” (TinCan) by director Fifth Solomon and starring Alex Gonzaga and Angeline Quinto.

The drama “About Us But Not About Us” (The IdeaFirst Company, Quantum, October Films) by director Jun Lana and starring Romnick Sarmenta and Elijah Canlas also made the cut.

The life and music of Rey Valera is told in “Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko: The Music of Rey Valera” (Saranggola Media Production) by director Joven Tan, starring Ariel Rivera, Gelli de Leon, and Christopher de Leon.

Gerald Anderson and Kylie Padilla star in “Unravel: A Swiss Side Love Story” (MAVX) by RC de los Reyes.

“Here Comes the Groom” (Quantum, Cineko, Brightlight) by Chris Martinez, starring Enchong Dee, Keempee de Leon, and Eugene Domingo is coming this summer.

Viva Films’ “Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko” by filmmaker-actress Bela Padilla with Lorna Tolentino and Yoo Min-gun is also part of the festival.

Lastly, “Love You Long Time” (Studio 360) by JP Habac has Carlo Aquino and Eissel Serrano in the cast.

The Metro Manila Film Festival this summer will run from April 8 to 18.
