The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival has announced a new partnership with MFP Rentals to support student filmmakers in its Student Shorts category. MFP Rentals, a local audiovisual equipment company, will provide up to P100,000 worth of free equipment rental for all 25 student short films.
This marks the first equipment subsidy for student filmmakers at the festival, which didn’t have such support in its inaugural year. The partnership allows the filmmakers to use their P150,000 grant on production rather than equipment.
Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Puregold senior marketing manager, expressed gratitude for the added resources, saying, “Thanks to MFP Rentals, our student filmmakers now have significantly more resources to make their panalo stories a reality.”
Mark Tristan Cua, owner of MFP Rentals, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting young filmmakers, noting, “We believed that supporting the student shorts category was the best way to help.” Cua, also the founder of the Mobile Filmmaking Philippines community, understands the challenges of being a student filmmaker and aims to ease financial pressures by providing affordable equipment.
In addition to equipment, MFP Rentals will offer technical consultations with the Director of Photography for each student film. The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival will run in March 2025, with the awards to be handed out on March 19, 2025.
