Chito Miranda, lead vocalist of Parokya Ni Edgar, broke his silence over news of the arrest of his wife, Neri Naig Miranda, on November 23 in Pasay City.

In a social media post on November 27, Miranda defended his wife.

“Never nanloko si Neri, at never sya nanlamang sa kapwa,” he wrote, describing his wife as someone who consistently helps others.

According to Miranda, Neri’s role in the case was limited to being an endorser for a business, and her image was used to attract investors. He claimed the allegations against her stem from this endorsement and not from direct involvement in any fraudulent activities.

“Tulad ngayon, endorser lang sya tapos ginamit ‘yung face nya to get investors.

“Kinasuhan sya ng mga nabiktima,” Miranda stated, adding that his wife was arrested without prior notice of a new criminal complaint.

“Wala syang nareceive na letter from the prosecutor, walang subpoena, walang kahit another notice,” he wrote. “Yung mga dati, nareceive namin nya at nag complynsya (alam naman ng lahat na madali kami mahanap sa Alfonso). Anyway, dinampot na lang sya bigla. (Nadismiss na yung mga similar na kaso sa ibang lugar, and we’re praying na sana ma-dismiss na din ito.)”

The Southern Police District confirmed on November 26 that an actress, identified by the alias “Erin,” was arrested at a convention center in Pasay City. The charges include 14 counts of violating the Securities Regulation Code and estafa.

Miranda alleged that funds involved in the case were handled by the business owner, Chanda Atienza, whom he named in his post.

“Wala siyang kinuhang pera sa ibang tao, lahat ng pera nila na kay Chanda, ang may ari ng Dermacare.”

He also shared a letter reportedly written by Atienza, apologizing to Neri.

Miranda concluded by maintaining his wife’s innocence and expressing frustration that those he believes to be the true perpetrators remain free.

“Sobrang bait po ni Neri … as in soooobra.

“Eto yung babaeng kinulong ninyo without bail, habang nakalaya pa yung mga tunay na may kasalanan,” ended Miranda.

Chito married Neri in December 2014. They own several businesses, including restaurants and a resort in Cavite.
