For Father’s Day and Pride Month, the show “CIA with BA” featured a heartwarming story about a father coming to terms with his son’s sexuality, bringing host Boy Abunda to an emotional moment.

Yuri appeared on the show’s “Case 2 Face” segment to share his struggles with his father, Tatay Marcos, who had been unaccepting and harsh towards him for over 20 years due to his sexual orientation.

Tatay Marcos admitted that there was a time when he hurt Yuri, believing it was necessary for discipline.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano offered his advice: “We can disagree with his choices pero mahal pa rin siya. We can disagree with [his] lifestyles, pero respetuhin pa rin siya.

The episode also revealed Yuri struggled with depression at around 18 years old, which almost led him to take his own life.

Boy, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, shared his thoughts as the segment concluded.

Ipinapaliwanag ko po ‘yung karapatan naming mabuhay,” said the award-winning talk show host.

Addressing Tatay Marcos, Tito Boy said, “Tatay, he’s gay, he’s human, anak ng Diyos po ‘yan, at higit sa lahat, anak niyo po ‘yan kaya ‘yung pagmamahal mo ay hindi dapat ipakiusap ni Yuri. Baka pwedeng titigan ho ninyo, yakapin ho ninyo, mayroong kadakilaan ho ‘yon.”

Ako, did I choose to be gay? Hindi po. Kami’y naniniwala kasi na anak din kami ng Diyos and we were born, we were created to be who we are. Buksan niyo ho ang puso niyo. Tao ho ‘yan. Mabuting tao ho ‘yan,” he ended.

“CIA with BA” upholds the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the esteemed father of the sibling senator-hosts.

“CIA with BA,” hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, airs every Sunday at 11 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
