GMA brings good vibes as it airs the well-loved Korean dramas “The Red Sleeve” and “About Time” back-to-back.
“The Red Sleeve” is a historical romance series set in the 1700s. Based on real-life events, it tackles the love story of the King of Joseon and an ordinary court woman who serves the royalty.
The series stars award-winning actors Lee Jun-Ho as Yi San, Lee Se-Young as Sung Deok Im, Kang Hoon as Hong Deok Ro and Jang Hye-jin as Court Lady Seo.
“The Red Sleeve” took home the Best Drama award, while Lee Jun-Ho was hailed as the Best Actor in the 2022 Korea PD Awards. Recently, Lee Jun-Ho also won as the Best Actor at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in South Korea.
Yi San is an aloof and perfectionist young prince who strives to be a compassionate king.
However, his father’s death has left an emotional trauma in his heart and he fears that he might also end up dying miserably.
Later on, he meets Sung Deok Im, an intelligent court lady who wants to live the life of her choice rather than become one of the “King’s women.” Yi San falls in love with her and tries to convince Sung Deok Im to be his concubine.
Meanwhile, the fantasy romance “About Time” stars Lee Sung-kyung as Michaela, Lee Sang-yoon as Dino, Im Se-mi as Cielo, Kim Dong-jun as Jason, Han Seung-yeon as Abby, and Ro-woon as Kevin.
It tells the story of an aspiring musical actress Michaela who has the incredible ability to see everyone’s lifespan including hers.
In the aftermath of a minor car crash, Michaela crosses paths with Dino, the chief director of a cultural foundation. She realizes that her own “life clock” stops whenever she is near him.
Since Dino gives her hope that she can live longer, Michaela pursues her ultimate dream to become the lead star in a musical play that is being produced by his company. She does everything to be with Dino all the time.
“The Red Sleeve” airs at 9:35 p.m, Mondays to Thursdays, while “About Time” airs at 10:20 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and at 10:35 p.m. every Friday on GMA.
