The chemistry between Angela Muji and Rabin Angeles is undeniable in Viva One’s hit series “Seducing Drake Palma.” But beyond their characters, the two young stars say the project gave them something just as rewarding: a genuine friendship that’s becoming deeper.
At the show’s thanksgiving press conference held Monday at Viva Café, Angela admitted that she only truly got to know her co-star during filming.
“Before this, hindi pa kami masyadong close,” she shared. “Pero dito ko talaga siya nakilala. Sobrang makulit pala siya, laging puno ng energy. Kahit pagod ka na, matatawa ka na lang.”
For Rabin, working with Angela was a joy, especially because of her caring nature. “Sobrang maalaga siya,” he said. “On set, gusto niya sabay-sabay kaming lahat kumakain. May times na may sakit ako, pero siya pa ‘yung nagdadala ng juice para sa akin. Nakakagaan ng loob kasi ramdam mo ‘yung concern.”
Angela, whose love language includes acts of service, in turn described Rabin as someone with strong values. “Very family-oriented naman po siya and God-fearing,” she said. “So lahat po ng ginagawa niya, inuuna po niya si God and ang family niya.”
The two also recalled their most memorable moments on set. Angela remembered spraining her foot during taping. “Ginawa niya talaga akong first aid,” she laughed. “Nag-ice pack pa siya kahit nagjo-joke lang ako. Hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yun.”
Rabin, meanwhile, said every day on set was special simply because he was working alongside Angela. On a scale of one to ten, he rated their closeness at a nine. “Kulang ng one kasi ako ‘yung kailangan niya,” Angela teased, thrilling the crowd at the Viva Cafe.
Both actors admitted they were overwhelmed by the success of “Seducing Drake Palma.” “Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala hanggang ngayon,” Angelica said. Rabin added: “Kung may ibigay na project, tatanggapin namin with gratitude. Pero kahit hindi kami magka-love team, andyan pa rin ‘yung suporta.”
As if the celebration weren’t enough, fans received even bigger news. Apart from confirming a second season of the series — this time titled “Dating Alys Perez” — Viva also announced that Angelica and Rabin are set to headline their first big-screen project together: the Philippine adaptation of South Korea’s hit fantasy-romance “A Werewolf Boy.”
To be directed by “Seducing Drake Palma” director Crisanto B. Aquino, the film will bring the tandem, fondly dubbed “RabGel” by their fans, to the silver screen. Originally starring Song Joong-ki and Park Bo-young, the 2012 Korean box-office hit is being reimagined by Viva Films and Studio Viva for local audiences.
With more projects lined up, Angelica and Rabin are proving that their bond, both on and off screen, is only growing stronger, much to the delight of fans who can’t wait to see what’s next for the rising love team.
