An experience from her early teens that made her feel inferior because of her looks has always stuck with actress Lovi Poe. Now, having found like-minded partners such as Steve Haw of Ready Set Glow (RSG), Lovi has launched her own makeup line — Love, You, by Lovi and has embarked on a mission to inspire self-love and appreciation, regardless of shape, size, or skin color.
“I want them to feel inspired and embrace their own beauty. You know, makeup is here to enhance our natural beauty,” Lovi said at the grand launch of her line on October 18 at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City.
She recalls dreaming of having her own makeup line as a child, being a fan of Britney Spears’ brand. Now, with Love, You, by Lovi, she advocates embracing oneself, imperfections included.
“I hope that every time they see our products, Love, You, by Lovi, it serves as a gentle reminder for them to love themselves. I want people to have that realization daily, since we use makeup every day. It’s about self-love and authenticity being the most important thing,” she added.
Lovi’s makeup line includes lippies (Me, Myself and I), shimmer spray (Skin Poetry), a cream and powder blush duo (Heart in Bloom), a brow trio (Statement Setter), and a contour and highlighter combo (Love and Light). Additionally, RSG products like the Badass aqua cleanser, liquid liner, eye shimmer, Spot Assassin concealer, and Rebel Edgeeyeshadow palette are part of the collection.
The “Guilty Pleasure” star takes pride in the inclusivity of her makeup line. “Since we made sure that this is very inclusive, there’s a range of shades… and we made sure it would be good for all skin types,” she emphasized.
Each boxed set comes with a special note that reflects Lovi’s beauty philosophy:
“Hey beautiful soul,” the message begins, “I’m so excited to share Love, You with you! This isn’t just makeup, it’s a little reminder to celebrate yourself, your story, and what makes you truly unique. I hope you enjoy every piece and feel a little extra love each time you use it.”
Following her successful foray into film production with “Guilty Pleasure,” which she co-produced under her own C’est Lovi and Regal Entertainment, Lovi is set to dive into more production projects soon. But for now, she is focused on her current “guilty pleasure”—makeup.
“It probably is,” Lovi said, laughing when asked if she considers makeup her guilty pleasure.
