SINGER-actress Aicelle Santos opened up about her personal experiences with miracles during a press conference for “Ang Himala.” The actress, who steps into the iconic role of Elsa in this adaptation of the 1982 classic film and 2003 stage musical, shared how her faith has shaped her journey, both on and off screen.

Aicelle recounted a deeply personal story involving her brother, who was critically ill with a rare heart condition. “Nanganganib na talaga siya,” she shared, recalling the desperation and uncertainty of that time. As the situation worsened, Aicelle leaned on her unwavering faith, saying, “’Yung confidence ko kay Lord ‘yun lang talaga ang kinapitan namin.”

She vividly remembered praying over her brother’s heart, declaring with conviction, “You are healed.”

To her astonishment, her brother’s condition improved dramatically — a moment she described as nothing short of miraculous. “Right there and then, I witnessed a miracle,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. This experience, she explained, has deeply influenced her understanding of faith and healing, themes central to “Isang Himala.”

As part of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), “Isang Himala” promises to captivate audiences with its unique musical format, rich visuals, and emotionally charged performances. Directed by MMFF Best Director Pepe Diokno (“Gomburza”) and written by National Artist Ricky Lee, the original writer of the 1982 masterpiece, the film reimagines the story for a new generation.

Aicelle emphasized the heart of the movie, saying, “Love is the greatest miracle.”

Reflecting on her role, Aicelle shared how challenging yet rewarding it was to portray such an iconic character. “I wanted to honor the original while making it my own,” she said, focusing on capturing Elsa’s emotional depth.

For her, this project is not just a retelling of a beloved classic but also a celebration of community and hope. The production felt like a family affair, she noted, with a deep sense of collaboration among the cast and crew.

Aicelle urged audiences to watch the film, highlighting its emotional depth and powerful message. “We have something new to offer,” she said.

“Isang Himala” also features Bituin Escalante, Kakki Teodoro and David Ezra in the cast. As the only musical among the ten MMFF entries, it stands apart with its stunning musical direction by Vincent A. De Jesus. This modern masterpiece is presented by CreaZion Studios in partnership with Unitel, Straightshooter, Kapitol Films, and CMB Production and opens nationwide starting December 25.
