DELL Technologies has announced the launch of Dell AI for Telecom, a program aimed at simplifying and accelerating the deployment of AI solutions for communications service providers (CSPs).
According to a recent MeriTalk study commissioned by Dell, 48 percent of telecom executives see AI as the most transformative technology in the next five years, yet 68 percent feel they are struggling to keep up with rapidly changing technologies and customer demands.
The Dell AI for Telecom program, part of the Dell AI Factory, addresses these concerns by combining Dell’s AI expertise, infrastructure, and services with software and silicon from across the AI ecosystem. This program is designed to develop and implement AI solutions on-premises to enhance network performance, improve customer service, and provide greater value at the enterprise edge.
“Capitalizing on the multiple opportunities presented by AI has become the most compelling driver of network cloud transformation,” Dennis Hoffman, senior vice president and general manager of Dell’s Telecom Systems Business said.
As part of this initiative, Dell has extended its collaboration with NVIDIA to co-create and validate telecom AI solutions for CSPs, leveraging the Dell AI Factory and NVIDIA technology. Using Dell PowerEdge servers and NVIDIA GPUs, CSPs can use AI to enhance customer care, automate operations, troubleshoot networks, and develop digital twins for predictive maintenance.
These solutions include AI platforms from partners like Amdocs, Iternal, Kinetica, and Synthefy.
“Dell AI for Telecom brings together Dell’s AI expertise and infrastructure, with partners across the ecosystem, to help network operators implement AI solutions in and on the network that reduce OPEX, improve performance, and create new edge revenue opportunities,” he emphasized.
Additionally, Dell is facilitating AI deployments at the telecom network’s edge with its PowerEdge XR8000 server, now available with NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPUs. This server, designed specifically for telecom and edge use cases, offers a scalable, modular design that simplifies both deployment and maintenance. Dell is also assisting CSPs in developing GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) offerings, enabling them to provide on-demand NVIDIA GPU capacity for enterprise customers, unlocking new revenue streams while offering carrier-grade AI solutions closer to the data.
Dell is already working with CSPs through its Telecom Open Ecosystem Labs to accelerate the adoption of AI. In Indonesia, Lintasarta is offering GPU Merdeka, a GPUaaS that utilizes Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers and NVIDIA GPUs to provide national businesses with the necessary infrastructure for high-demand AI computing tasks.
“As part of our collaboration with Dell Technologies and NVIDIA, Lintasarta will provide GPU-as-a-Service (Deka GPU) with Dell AI infrastructure and NVIDIA GPUs for national businesses, providing them access to the latest AI capabilities tailored for high-demand computing tasks,” Lintasarta’s Chief Cloud Officer, Gidion Suranta Barus said.
Dell is also working with SK Telecom to develop an AI chat agent for CSPs. The Mobile Network Operator (MNO) AI Platform will integrate AI into existing business support systems (BSS) to enhance telecom operations, drive revenue, and improve customer service.
“The creation of the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) AI Platform signifies a pivotal step in integrating AI into existing business support systems. This innovation aims to enhance our telecom business operations, drive revenue growth, and resolve customer issues with unprecedented speed and efficiency.” Haisung Kwon, Head of MNO AI Platforms at SK Telecom commented.
