The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the request for the issuance of an Authority to Purchase Motor Vehicles (APMV) totaling to P396.374 million to support the capability of the country’s police force.
In a statement yesterday, the DBM said the APMV will be used to procure 402 units of motor vehicles (MVs) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Philippine National Police (PNP).
“We strongly believe that a well-equipped police force is better positioned in promoting public safety,” DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said.
“In the end, it is our fellow citizens who will benefit from the acquisition of motor vehicles for our police force,” she added.
The fund to be utilized for the said purpose is chargeable against the specific budget of the PNP under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
It will cover the procurement of 40 patrol jeep 4×2, 115 personnel carrier 4×4, 40 light transport vehicles, 10 PNP vans, 183 light motorcycles and 14 explosive ordinance disposal vehicles.
The budget secretary approved the issuance of the APMV on Sept. 10, 2024.
