‘Let’s hope she can follow in the footsteps of Jennylyn Mercado, the single mom who staged a successful return after she gave birth to her love child’

JANELLA Salvador finally admitted that she got pregnant by Markus Paterson and she had a son named Jude Trevor born on October 20, 2020 in London. She uploaded on her vlog a video chronicling her pregnancy up to the time that the baby was delivered. She admits she didn’t confess to her pregnancy right away because people can really be so harsh. But she’s now so proud of her baby.

She wrote: “You’re too precious to not be shared. The world deserves to see the precious smiles you give us, the ones that melt our hearts. The world deserves to see you grow into your own unique self. I can’t believe you’re mine.”

It’ll be recalled that Janella was first linked to Elmo Magalona and their relationship ended badly with hints that she was a battered girlfriend. After that, she was linked to Joshua Garcia when they did “The Killer Bride,” but, as it turns out she was already with Markus by then, although they didn’t admit their relationship in public.

In September, they finally admitted that they’re together and soon after, Janella flew to England where Markus lives with his family. Tongues wagged that she’s already infanticipating, but they just kept quiet.

It’s so easy to deduce even then that the rumors were true as they could have denied it right away. But there’s no denial at all. Even from Janella’s manager, Manny Valera, who chose to just stay silent when asked about this.

The reaction to the video of their baby is very positive. The question now is: Can Janella still make a showbiz comeback and will people continue to support her? Well, that all remains to be seen. Let’s hope she can follow in the footsteps of Jennylyn Mercado, the single mom who staged a successful return after she gave birth to her love child and is now one of the biggest stars of the Kapuso network.

The telecast of “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit’s” fresh new episodes has started and we ask Mylene Dizon, one of its lead stars, about her experience taping it on a lock in basis in a resort-hotel in San Mateo, Rizal.

“There are advantages and also some disadvantages,” she says. “The advantage is that I don’t have to travel every other day for our taping from my home in Silang, Cavite. And since hindi na kayo umaalis sa same location, you get to stay in character every day. You’re always in tune with the story. At dahil lagi kaming magkakasama nina Ate Guy (Nora Aunor), Kyline Alcantara, Zoren Legaspi, Yasser Marta and the rest of the cast, along with our director, Laurice Guillen, we’re all able to grow closer as one family.”
And what is the disadvantage?

“The drawback, of course, is you’re away from your own family. Siempre, I miss my two sons, Tom and Lucas, and my partner (Jason Webb). And when the taping ended and I returned home, I cannot hug them right away kasi I had to quarantine myself muna.”

It’s good that before the lock in taping, they were together everyday due to the pandemic.

“Yes, in a way, the lockdown became enjoyable because I was able to spend a lot of time with my children, which we seldom did before kasi sobrang busy nga ako with work and they’re busy naman with school. So it’s a wonderful experience for all of us being together, with me cooking for them and just keeping them company. So tamang-tama lang na before we did lock in taping, nakapag-recharge na ako in the company of my sons.”

Because of the pandemic, there were many changes made in the original script. “Inayos nila in such a way that we could use the entire location ng hotel and its surrounding areas for the different locations needed in the story. Also, they had to revise the scenes to make sure there would be no physical contact among us stars. No hugging or kissing. Intimate scenes are just implied to make sure we practice social distancing.”

Sen. Bong Revilla proudly announced he has finished one whole season of his new GMA-7 show, “Agimat ng Agila,” on lock in taping in the mountains of Rizal.

“Yes, we did a total of 13 episodes at ginagawa ngayon ni Direk Rico Gutierrez ang post-production. It’s an action-adventure fantasy and I play Agila, a crimefighter na kayang i-transform ang sarili niya para maging agila. Ang treatment dito ni Direk Rico is parang pelikula. Pwede ngang ire-edit ito at gawing isang full-length movie for theatrical release.

I’m thankful to Atty. Felipe Gozon for his continued trust in me at talagang ginastusan ng GMA nang husto ang ‘Agimat ng Agila.’ It will start airing in March.”

He is paired with Sanya Lopez. How is it working with a new leading lady?

“Okay siya,” he replies, putting his thumbs up to signify his approval of Sanya. “I’ve seen our scenes together and everyone says maganda ang chemistry namin on screen. Game siya pati sa action scenes.”

Supporting them in the show are Allen Dizon, Sheryl Cruz, Benjie Paras, Roi Vinzon, Migs Cuaderno, Ian Ignacio, Michelle Dee and many more. The show will be shown once a week on Sunday night. How come they didn’t do it a daily serial like his past hit, “Indio”?

“Gusto nga nila, pero hindi ko kaya. I’m busy with my work at the senate and in helping people in need. Every time something bad happens, nandun kami ng wife ko (Mayor Lani Mercado of Bacoor) to help, mula pa nung Taal Volcano eruption, ‘yung mga bagyong sunod-sunod na dumating, ‘yung pandemic at ‘yung mga sunog sa Bacoor where we helped in relocating the fire victims.”

He says 2020 was really challenging for all of us. “But we should just be thankful that we survived it, we’re still here. Isang magandang nangyari roon is we saw the Filipino bayanihan spirit in helping those in need. Personally, malungkot sa’kin ang 2020 kasi my dad (Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr.) left us and I miss him up to now. Tapos, na-Covid pa ako.”

How about their film company, Imus Productions, will they still do a movie?

“Actually, we’re about to shoot an action film, ‘Budots Man.’ Ready na ang lahat, costumes, set, si Arci Muñoz sana ang leading lady ko at si Baron Geisler ang contravida, kaso, biglang nagka-pandemic, so hindi na namin itinuloy. Unang-una, may mga bata sa cast namin, bawal magtrabaho ngayon ang mga bata. At hirap talaga ang movie industry kasi sarado ang mga sinehan. Look at what happened to the entries sa Metro-Manila film fest shown via streaming, sobrang hina raw. Hindi pa ready ang Pinoy to just watch movies online.”

He was also asked if it’s true he’s so strong with GMA management and this is the reason why GMA didn’t renew Janine Gutierrez’ contract with them after Janine reacted with an “Oh God” remark upon his return at GMA.

“Bakit ako? I don’t have anything to do with that. Sa akin, walang masamang tinapay. In fact, if there’s an offer to do a project with her, okay lang ako. Wala akong sama ng loob sa kanya at sa kahit sinupang artista o tao na namba-bash sa akin. Let’s just stay positive.”
