‘Over two years after their last concert, Lily is more than thrilled to step on stage, but this time with a new voice breathing life into their best-selling and well-loved hits.’

The former Calla Lily — now known as simply Lily — is back with new music and a new lead vocalist — Joshua Bulot.

In partnership with Lx2 Entertainment, a global entertainment company, the five-man band will be holding their first-ever concert on December 2 at the Music Museum in San Juan.

Over two years after their last concert, Lily is more than thrilled to step on stage, but this time with a new voice breathing life into their best-selling and well-loved hits. This one-night concert treats fans to a rollercoaster of emotions with their legendary tunes.

Staying true to their core mission of creating world-class Filipino sound, Lily will also be launching new songs during their much-anticipated show.

“The boys have been waiting for this moment to go back to the stage and just continue doing what they love the most,” says Loie Magan, Lx2 Entertainment’s CEO and founder. “We at LX2 Entertainment are more than pleased that they get to do the best performances of their lives yet with us.”

The award-winning band Lily is composed of Joshua, drummer Lem Belaro, bass guitarist Aaron Ricafrent, rhythm and lead guitarist Nathan Reyes, lead guitarist and backing vocals Alden Acosta.

Lem, the chief songwriter, expresses his gratitude to all the fans who have been supporting Lily even during their toughest times. “Despite the uncertain times, we’ve still come a long way because of the love and support of the people around us. This, along with the boys’ burning passion to create unique Filipino music, is what fuels us to show up and be back on stage.”

Best known for their singles such as “Magbalik,” “Stars,” “Pansamantala,” Lily launched their first album, “Destination XYZ,” in 2006. Since then, they have continued to inspire people through their songs.

Finally, we are getting a semblance of normality in showbiz. A big indicator is the return of the Parade of Stars in Quezon City for one of the industry’s most-awaited annual events, the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The MMFF’s theme this year — and fittingly so — is “Balik Saya sa MMFF 2022.” For the 48th edition of the film festival, the Parade of Stars will be hosted by the local government of Quezon City. The parade will start from Welcome Rotonda-Quezon Avenue to Quezon Memorial Circle at 2 p.m. on December 21.

The parade will run for seven kilometers, with an estimated travel time of two hours and 30 minutes.

More good news: the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will be giving P500,000 to help in marketing the eight MMFF entries through CreatePHFilms. The half million pesos will be given to each film producer whose entries made it to the MMFF 2022.

The official eight entries to the MMFF 2022 are: “Deleter” by Viva Communications, Inc.; “Family Matters” by Cineko Productions, Inc.; “Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told” by Borracho Film Production; “My Father, Myself” by 3:16 Media Network and Mentorque Productions; “Nanahimik ang Gabi” by Rein Entertainment Productions; “Partners in Crime” by ABS-CBN Film Productions; “Labyu with an Accent” by ABS-CBN Film Productions and “My Teacher” by TEN17P.

The 48th MMFF will run nationwide from December 25 to January 7, 2023. The awards night will be on December 27 at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao.

Speaking of film festivals, the QCinema Film Festival’s Pylon Awards hailed “Autobiography” and “Bold Eagle” as big winners.

“Autobiography” by Makbul Mubarak won the Asian Next Wave award of QCinema. The festival also cited “Autobiography” for its deliberately paced, slow-burn drama with serious socio-political implications that shows a director who’s hitting the ground running with a film that unanimously impressed the jury.

Makbul Mubarak also brought home the Best Director trophy.  “Return to Seoul” by Davy Chou won the NETPAC Jury Award. Setsuko Shiokawa won for the production design of the film “Plan 75.”

In what is first in local awards, starting this year, QCinema’s sole acting honor, regardless of gender, went to Chieko Baisho of “Plan 75.”

In the Asian Next Wave category, Shuming He and Cris Ong won for Best Screenplay for “Ajooma.”

In the #QCShorts competition, the best film award went to “Bold Eagle” by Whammy Alcazaren.

Glenn Barit took home another Pylon for his film “Luzonensis Osteoporosis,” which also won the NETPAC Jury Award and the Audience Choice award.

“The River that Never Ends” by JT Trinidad was given the Pylon for Gender Sensitivity for its heartbreaking portrayal of a transwoman and a city in their meandering routines of neglect, survival and melancholia.

QCinema will run until November 26.
