‘Sabi nga namin ng mga nakasama ko noon, tiyak na magiging mas maintriga at mas masaya ang itatakbo ng story.’

SANYA Lopez is honored that “Regal Studio Presents” chose her to star in its first offering on GMA 7, “That Thin Line Between” with Ken Chan as her leading man.

“Nakakatuwa namang they got me for the pilot episode and paired pa with Ken,” she says.

“Ten years na kaming friends ni Ken since we started in ‘Walang Tulugan’ of our late mentor, Kuya Germs, and we’re glad na magkapareha na kami ngayon in this feel good rom-com.”

Is it true that because “First Yaya” is such a big blockbuster and was never surpassed by Alden Richards’ soap, it will now have a Book Two titled “First Lady”?

“Naririnig ko lang pero wala pa pong confirmation from management,” she says. “So wala akong masasabi kasi I believe na hangga’t hindi nagga-grind ang camera, ayoko munang magsalita about any project.”

She does not sound like she’s excited to be paired anew with Gabby Concepcion when their pairing was such a hit with audiences.

“Actually, excited ako, kasi kung totoong magiging First Lady na ang character ko, si Melody, mas napakaraming puedeng mangyari, ‘di ba? Yaya pa lang ako, andami ng intriga.

What more kung asawa na ng presidente, right?

“Sabi nga namin ng mga nakasama ko noon, tiyak na magiging mas maintriga at mas masaya ang itatakbo ng story. Pero bago ‘yun, watch nyo na lang muna ang ‘Regal Studio Presents’ namin ni Ken.”

Marion Aunor has the right pedigree as a singer-actress. Her mom, Lala Aunor, used to be part of the Apat na Sikat and her aunt, Nora Aunor, is a much awarded singer and actress. She started as a singer when she joined Himig Handog 2013 with her song “If You Ever Change Your Mind” and she won 3rd place.

She signed up first with Star Music and dropped her family name. Later on, she used the name Marione. She signed up with Viva in 2018 and later reverted back to her full name Marion Aunor.

She also wrote unforgettable theme songs for hit movies.

She has now put up her own music label, Wild Dreams Records, partnering with Viva in releasing her first single for Wild Dreams, “Kama.”

“It’s a hugot song with some electronic elements, made during the quarantine and is about feeling lonely, missing someone and wondering whether he misses you back,” she says.

“For its music video, we really used my own bed where I wrote the song mismo. The music video was shot in a hill in Tagaytay and my bed was transported to Tagaytay piece by piece then assembled uli roon.”

Marion has also branched out into acting now that she’s with Viva. She first did “Kaka” with Jerald Napoles and Sunshine Guimary then “Revirginized” with no less than Sharon Cuneta. So how is it being a singer-actress?

“I enjoy acting and right now, I’ve just finished shooting a new movie with Direk Darryl Yap, ‘Sarap Mong Patayin,’ where they’re also using one of my songs in the soundtrack.

Then I’m starting another new movie with Direk Nuel Naval.”

Marco Gumabao made quite a splash in the big hit, “Revirginized,” as Sharon Cuneta’s hunky leading man. He’s now paired with Julia Barretto in the new TV5 romantic drama, “Di Na Muli,” produced by Viva Entertainment, so someone quips he’s obviously now Viva’s top leading man.

“Hindi naman,” he demurs. “I guess I’m just lucky hindi ako nababakante. Julia has been a friend from way back when we’re both still with ABS-CBN. I’ve also guested in her vlog and we had fun. I was so happy when Viva informed me we’re doing a new show together, ito ngang ‘Di Na Muli’ for TV5. It’s a breeze working with her, masaya siyang kasama on and off the set, kaya it’s easy to build up a chemistry with her. I enjoyed our whole experience taping the show while on lock-in location.”

What’s his role in the series?

“I play Mico, na maraming palpak na ginawa sa buhay, but actually, he just wants to prove himself. When I meet Julia, I’m surprised that she doesn’t want to be touched, kahit na shake hands lang. Then I learned na she has this ability na kapag nahawakan niya ang isang tao, nalalaman niya agad ang oras kung kailan ito mamamatay, so she’s really scared to touch anyone.”

He eventually becomes instrumental for Julia’s character to accept her unusual gift. The show is about regret, hence the title “Di Na Muli.” Has he done anything in his life that he regrets?

“Honestly, I’m not the regretful type. I believe that kung may mali in our decisions, I think it happens for a good reason. So ako, I just accept my mistake and try to learn my best from what happened. I’m not the type who’d tell myself na sana hindi nangyari ito, hindi ko ginawa ito. Iniisip ko na lang kung anong aral ang makukuha ko rito, so I can gain something from the experience and be a better man.”

Can he relate with his character in show?

“Yes, I can relate with my character. Kasi si Mico, dati relaxed lang siya, carefree, but his life took a big turn when he handled their business to help his family. It also happened to me when my dad (Dennis Roldan) was arrested and I’m now the one responsible for our family.”
