RUFFA GUTIERREZ

LOOKING as glamorous and beautiful as ever, Ruffa Gutierrez proudly unveiled her lifestyle brand at the Hilton Manila last October 24.

The actress said life is all about learning and is charting a new direction as CEO of Gutz & Glow.

“It’s all about growing, learning and not stopping,” she said at the launch.

Ruffa was approached by her friend from her Bible study group, Maricor Flores, founder of Skin Solutions, before the pandemic.

“She was offering me different kind of products, but I am really specific in what I want.

Then things happened and I got busy and the pandemic came along. When we decided to meet again, I said, why don’t we launch something that is essential in our lives? During the pandemic, hindi uso ang events, ang fashion, everything was about taking care of ourselves and what is essential in our lives — feminine wipes, disinfectant, sun care — those are what we learned throughout our pandemic journey,” Ruffa related.

The new CEO is truly proud Gutz & Glow has nothing but the best ingredients of the highest quality. Its current line of products includes Butt and Body Scrub, Feminine Lightening Spray Mist, Luminous Hand Cream, Lustrous Hand Sanitizer, Disinfectant Hand Soap, Blazing Hand Sanitizer, Makeup Remover Wipes, and Intimate Feminine Wipes.

MARICOR FLORES

Maricor said the project was two years in the making because of the meticulousness of Ruffa.

“Super affordable and yet very functional ang mga products. ‘Yun ang hinabol namin, it’s the lifestyle of Miss Ruffa Gutierrez. She does not want to settle for anything less. Mas gusto nya talaga may pride sa product na ilalabas so we came up with products na high functional ingredients. So ‘yung mga hand cream nya, hand sanitizer, these are not ordinary products na mabibili elsewhere. It’s only Gutz & Glow na may highlighted functional ingredients,” Maricor said.

The packaging and the look also had to pass Ruffa’s standards, because she did not want to get bashed by her biggest critic — her family. But she gets a lot of support from them, too.

Her two daughters especially, Lorin and Venice, are very proud of their mother and have been inspired by Ruffa’s determination to finish her course. The 48-year-old single mom graduated with a degree of Communication Arts from the Philippine Women’s University in August and is currently taking up her master’s. Ruffa said both Lorin and Venice are taking their studies very seriously and her firstborn, who is studying in Pepperdine University, a Christian university, plans to go into business very soon. The two girls are also following in their family’s footsteps in the entertainment business. Lorin is already a contract star of Viva, while Venice has the makings of a singer with her marvelous voice.

Another person who is also very proud of Ruffa is rumored boyfriend Herbert Bautista.

Although Ruffa maintains that she has no love life, she admits that it was Herbert who inspired her to return to school.

“Basta what you see is what you get,” she said on the real score between them.
