Restive

‘…Rio and Gonzales warned that the seething restiveness among retired military generals and other officers is very real.’

IN another stunning move, US President Donald Trump has declared that his government will recognize only two sexes and signed an executive order to stop funding diversity, including DEI activities. He stressed that “these sexes are not interchangeable, and they are grounded on fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

Over many decades, US administrations have departed from the Biblical truth that God created only man and woman and encouraged the expansion of the LGBT community as one major deterrent against gender discrimination. More than a setback as the liberals may think, Trump’s move brings an otherwise spiritual dimension to the atheistic concept and practice of homosexuality.

It is difficult for many Americans to accept this policy of reversing a cultural lifestyle and government policy which have otherwise triggered a deepening dark impact on the moral and spiritual life of the third sex.

At almost every turn when he assumed office as president, Trump invoked prayer and a heartfelt statement of faith and gratitude to the God Almighty. He would openly acknowledge the role of God in the USA, more often than any other President before him.

During a presidential campaign rally, he asked the large crowd who is the most famous man in the world, to which the people responded, “Donald Trump!” He denied that he was the most famous and instead declared that Jesus Christ is the most famous man to the rousing applause of the audience.

In a religious event after his inauguration, he presented and paid tribute to a former convicted robber who was transformed into a Born-Again Christian while in prison. After being freed, the black ex-convict turned evangelist organized a Christian outreach that led about 2,000 wayward people, mostly criminals, to Christ. Trump also called to the stage the former NBI agent who pursued and arrested him. They stood side by side as the beaming Trump said “they have become friends.”

A newly formed advocacy group, Ang Alyansa ng mga Magkakaisang Mamamayan (ANIM), is counting heavily on the support of retired military officers in its campaign against corruption, political dynasties, and electoral fraud. The group is led by retired Generals Edilberto Adan, Eliseo Rio, Jr, Raul Gonzales, former Comelec Commissioner Augusto “Gus” Lagman, and Fr. Robert Reyes.

They are the same convenors of a movement that has petitioned the Supreme Court several times to resolve serious issues on the reported massive rigging of votes in the national elections in May 2022.

At the Agenda media forum in Club Filipino last Friday, Rio and Gonzales warned that the seething restiveness among retired military generals and other officers is very real. Rio said that if the government fails to take the necessary reforms to seriously address electoral fraud and corruption, active AFP officers will most likely become just as restive and force national leaders to undertake real widespread changes.

Gonzales, the former chairman of the PMA Alumni Association, said that more than the majority of the PMA alumni have signed a petition urging Malacanang to take action even before the coming May elections.

Lagman, a veteran and prominent IT expert, said they will push for manual elections to replace automation in the 2028 elections. The new counting machines from South Korea operate the same way as the highly suspicious Smartmatic and should not be trusted at all. He urged voters in the coming elections to openly post their ballot receipts at all voting precincts nationwide.

Monsignor Gerry Botoon of the San Pablo Cathedral in Laguna, who represented Fr. Reyes at the media forum, lamented the prevailing complacency and apathy of most members of the Christian churches over the worsening and mounting incidents of political greed, corruption, and electoral fraud.
