Ruffa Gutierrez has now officially signed up with Viva Artists Agency after appearing as former First Lady Imelda Marcos in Viva’s “Maid in Malacañang.”

“I’m very honored and excited to be a part of Viva Artists Agency,” she says. “I’ve had several rebirths in showbiz and now I’m with VAA.”

What’s the secret of staying power? “You just have to keep reinventing yourself, be nice to everyone because fame is fleeting. Don’t ever burn bridges kasi maliit lang ang industriya.”

With “Maid in Malacañang” such a big hit, would she like to do another movie playing Imelda?

“Yes, meron daw Part 2 and 3 so I want to be a part of it. At kung magkakaroon ng solo biopic movie on her, I’d love to play her.”

Some bashers criticized her portrayal of Imelda in “MIM.” How does she deal with them?

“I’ve been in the industry for 36 years and lahat naman ng artista, may bashers, so dapat hindi na natin sila iniintindi. Kung ayaw nila sa akin, just close their eyes and sleep, para paggising nila, it’s a new day.”

And how’s her love life? “Para naman akong teenager. At this age, may mga bagay na mas mahalaga para sa atin kaysa sa love life, like our family and career. If ever I’d love again, I need someone who’ll understand me and support my career.”

How about working with her daughters Lorin and Venice? “Lorin will definitely be part of a podcast I’d do for Viva, to represent the Gen Z crowd. She’s in second year college right now in California, but she’s coming back in December kasi may offers sa kanya. Si Venice naman, you’d be blown away sa sobrang galing ng boses niya.”

Yasser Marta was discovered when he joined Eat Bulaga’s Spogify contest. He then cultivated an acting career and is currently part of the Vic Sotto-Maine Mendoza sitcom, “Daddy’s Gurl.”

The son of a Pinay mom and a Portuguese dad, Yasser is now happy to be part of the new GMA-7 primetime romantic-drama, “What We Could Be,” where he plays the third wheel in the love affair of Miguel Tanfelix as Franco and Ysabel Ortega as Cynthia.

“It’s really a big achievement in my career na nabigyan ako ng ganitong kagandang project, ‘What We could Be,’ which is a co-production of GMA with Quantum Films of Atty. Joji Alonso and will start airing on Monday,” he says. “Tapos, ang director pa namin is the award-winning Jeffrey Jeturian. I feel so lucky to be able to work with top directors, kasi sa ‘Bilangin ang Bituin’ before, si Tita Laurice Guillen naman ang director. You really learn so much when you work with acclaimed directors.”

When the pilot week of “What We Could Be” was shown to the press, it was very noticeable that Yasser has more scenes than Miguel Tanfelix. It was he who rescued Ysabel from the hands of an abusive guy when she got so drunk and the guy tried to take advantage of her.

Yasser brought Ysabel home and when she wakes up, he was just coming from having a shower and was only wrapped in a towel. His bare torso is displayed to advantage and it’s obvious they’re really projecting him as a hunk. How did he feel about doing this topless scene?

“Okay lang naman for me,” he says. “Actually, pinaghandaan ko ang role ko rito as Lucas. Kasi I was told I will have scenes na shirtless ako. Wala naman akong dapat ikahiya as I take good care of my body by working out in the gym.”

Cloe Barreto was just seen in “Tahan” and “The Influencer.” She now has another Vivamax movie, “Do You Think I Am Sexy,” shown in quick succession. Is she afraid of overexposure?

“No, I’m not afraid of being overexposed,” she says. “Kasi enjoy lang talaga ako when I’m acting before the camera, so give me more more movies pa.”

She played psychotic characters in her last two films: as the mad killer of different men in “Tahan” and as the obsessed fan of who holds her idol captive and tortures him in “The Influencer.” So what’s her role this time in “Do You Think I Am Sexy” that will start streaming on Vivamax on September 9?

“Naku, mas mahirap ang role ko dito kasi bale I play two different roles,” she says. “Ang normal character ko is Charlize, a college student na breadwinner din sa family nila. I earn my living by being a camgirl, creating content online for a site called ‘Do You Think I Am Sexy?’ Now, sa online, ang name ko is Elle, na ibang-iba kay Charlize.”

Things become complicated for her when one of her regular clients cannot get enough of her online and wants to make love to her in person. This is Marco Gomez as Trystan, a young college instructor who is a regular subscriber of Elle. He opens up to her and shares with her all his wild and lurid sexual fantasies.

They meet each other face to face right inside the classroom when Charlize becomes a student of Trystan. Charlize then becomes the victim of Trystan who forces her to do his own sexy videos. If she wouldn’t agree, then he’d expose her online job.

“Mahirap gawin sina Charlize at Elle, but with the help of our director, Dennis Marasigan, I think nagawa ko naman nang maayos. Bilang artista kasi, kailangan, lahat puede mong gawin.”

She’s happy Marasigan has an open mind. “Yes, when I suggest something na gusto kong gawin sa eksena, hindi niya basta nire-reject. He’d say, sige, gawin mo, tingnan natin kung lalabas na maganda. He collaborates with his actors.”
