‘No one does “Fast Talk” the way I do “Fast Talk” – Boy Abunda’

Boy Abunda

Talk shows are a dime a dozen nowadays, but no one does it like the Philippines’ “King of Talk” – Boy Abunda.

His unique style of hosting is missed by viewers, so viewers will welcome his return on a daily show in the medium he feels most at home – television.

He returns to hosting via “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” airing Monday to Friday at 4 in the afternoon on GMA.

In a press con last Saturday, Boy said deciding on the title was easy as he has become associated with it and in fact, has the sole right to use the title.

He admits he is not perfect. He has made mistakes in the past and crossed some lines. He knows better now, he said.

Is he worried about his competition? Some talk shows have also used the “fast talk” format?

“No one does ‘Fast Talk’ the way I do ‘Fast Talk’,” he said with confidence.

Very true. Welcome back, Boy!

Speaking of comeback, fans are also looking forward to Coco Martin’s “Batang Quiapo,” the TV adaptation of one of the late movie king Fernando Poe, Jr.’s biggest blockbusters.

Coco will not only star but also direct the series. Pretty sure it will also have him coordinating the stunts and action scenes, like he did in his previous primetime Kapamilya series, the long-running “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

“Batang Quiapo” is set to start airing this year. Will it equal or surpass the success of “Probinsyano,” which ran for seven years? Well, who knows? Maybe the new series will run until 2030 – or even longer? Well, Coco is in his 40s now and with discipline and dedication, he can continue working for many more years. The late Ronnie Poe, Coco’s idol, was making movies and producing well into his 60s.

Incidentally, Coco will be working with Lovi Poe, the daughter of FPJ, in “Batang Quiapo.”

Though Lovi never got to work with her dad, “Batang Quiapo” will be her chance to prove her prowess in drama, comedy, and also action scenes.

Those who were predicting that Toni Gonzaga’s 20th anniversary concert and birthday show this January 20 at the Araneta Coliseum would be postponed or canceled altogether are wrong.

Concert producer Joed Serrano released a statement last week stating that majority of the tickets – 55% – have been purchased as of Friday, January 13 and only a small percentage remains unsold.

He also cleared the rumor Toni’s mom, Pinty Gonzaga, bought 500 pieces of tickets.

Said Joed: “As of January 13, Friday at 4:45pm, the ‘I Am Toni’ concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Jan 20, 2023 has already sold 55% of the tickets.

“Twenty percent (20%) goes to the sponsors who pledged their support for their endorser Toni Gonzaga. Mommy Pinty ordered and paid for 350 tickets for her mga friends, relatives at mga ka church mates na sa kanya umorder. Me, as one of the producers, also reserved some 300 tickets for my friends who ordered from me instead of going to Ticketnet. These tickets are paid. Wala ng libre sa panahon ngayon except pag kapamilya mo ang manonood. Iba ang concert sa pulitika at pelikula.

“As of this date (January 14), we still have 15% tickets unsold. You can still buy your tickets and get a chance to watch this very controversial concert. Its a celebration of 20 years in showbusiness and the birthday of our dearest Toni Gonzaga.

“Let us all unite & be positive in life. Move on & be kind to all. Let us all give ourselves a chance to be good in this world. Smile, wag nega sa buhay. Kung wala kang sasabihing maganda sa kapwa mo , then might as well be quiet kesa magkasala ka pa at mastress.…”
