‘Our countrymen should be thankful that Sara has manifested this early what she really is made of…’
VICE President Sarah Duterte’s uncouth statements against President Bongbong Marcos seem to exhibit a despairing hostility against their former ally due to the Dutertes’ deteriorating political fortunes.
No doubt she has openly embraced the dark side of her father’s character. She has threatened to “dig up the remains of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and throw them into the West Philippine Sea.” She also claimed that President Marcos “does not know how to be president” and is “running the country to hell.”
Like her father, the Vice President has shown vividly that she takes things personally even if they are legitimate criticisms and that she cannot thrive in our chaotic political culture in her pursuit to serve the country.
Like her father, she would rather evade responding to valid issues hounding her and her office and instead bitterly turn against lawmakers who are mandated by law to ferret out the truth against corruption and excesses
A lawyer strongly suggests a “psychological assessment” of the Vice President to determine her emotional and mental fitness to serve the country. Our countrymen should be thankful that Sara has manifested this early what she really is made of, making us fully aware that her way of dealing with crisis is far from the proven gifts of leadership exhibited by the genuinely great leaders of our country.

A family friend has been operating a business marketing and distributing various medicines to health centers and public hospitals in Central and Northern Luzon for many years. She says it is customary for the procurement sections of local government to purchase medicines for health centers and public hospitals. The friend says it has been SOP for those sections or departments to welcome and receive commissions for every purchase.
The friend named Baguio City as the only area in Northern Luzon where the local government does not seek or welcome commissions for the purchase of medicines.
Our family friend claims her business dealings at a public hospital in San Jose, Nueva Ecija were suddenly terminated after another marketing company offered to give a bigger commission to the bids and wards committee of the city.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong is leading a nationwide effort in local governance for integrity, honesty and efficiency. Numerous mayors and governors have shied away from signing a manifesto of commitment that Magalong has put out.
It is understandable why these local officials are not joining the movement. Since it is an open secret at the DILG regional offices in Central and Northern Luzon that local governments there have apparently been receiving and expecting commissions from the purchase of medicines, shouldn’t new DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla stand in the way of this rampant practice?
