ELLEN Adarna finally confesses in an online magazine interview why she and John Lloyd Cruz called it quits after they had a son named Elias. “I had so many issues that I haven’t resolved and I was projecting it on him,” she says.
Obviously, she suffered from post-partum depression after giving birth to Elias on June 26, 2018 and this was aggravated by her dad’s passing away. She then had to undergo a mental healing program in Bali, Indonesia.
“I can say I’m 100% okay now. I feel my environment has changed and my relationship with him has changed without me asking him to change. So I was just really the problem.
How I viewed it, my thinking pattern was the problem.”
She and John Lloyd are now co-parenting their son. “My son needs him as much as he needs me. I see their relationship and I see how happy my son is when he is around. So that’s why I also have to work on myself. Kasi if I have animosity towards his father, damay pa ‘yung bata sa mga issues ko.”
Ellen now feels she’s well enough and has gone back to work. She’s now taping a new sitcom, “John en Ellen,” with John Estrada, to be shown on TV5. Co-starring with them are Ronaldo Valdez, Long Mejia and introducing Angelina Cruz, the daughter of Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano. It’s slated to start airing on the last week of January on TV5 and Cignal TV.

Ai Ai De Las Alas renewed her contract with Hobe Noodles and it’s her sixth year as Hobe endorser.
“Thank you so much kay Lord at sabi ni Boss Bobby Go ng Hobe, forever na raw nila akong endorser,” she said.
“Maganda talaga ang resulta kapag si Ai Ai endorser kaya tuloy-tuloy lang natin,” said Go.How come she’s so slim these days?
“Siguro dahil sa kadyi-gym ako. Kasi hindi naman ako nagda-diet. Ang lakas ko ngang kumain. Siguro ‘yung metabolism ng katawan ko, mas malakas dahil sa gym.”
How was she during the pandemic? “Lahat naman nahirapan last year. Thank God hindi Niya tayo pinababayaan. God is good. Pero ngayon, maganda ang pasok ng 2021 dahil kakasimula pa lang, may renewal na ako ng endorsement ko. Tapos after ‘The Clash,’ heto, magre-resume na kami ng lock in taping ng ‘Owe My Love’ sa Bulacan ng GMA-7. Bale 55 days kaming walang uwian doon. Pagpasok mo, bawal na lumabas para sure na hindi kumalat ang virus sa amin. Para kaming OFWs na nalayo sa aming pamilya. Pero ako, kasama ko si Gerald (her hubby) kasi five years na akong organic, so siya ang nagpe-prepare ng food ko sa taping.”
What’s her role in “Owe My Love”?
“I play the boss of Lovi Poe who owns La Vida Shop where she works. Kasama namin dyan sina Benjamin Alves, Winwyn Marquez, Nova Villa, Leo Martinez, Jackielou Blanco, Ruby Rodriguez at marami pang iba.”
Did Hobe increase her talent fee (TF) this year?
“Walang increase ng TF this year dahil sa pandemic, pero by next year daw, mas mataas na ang budget ko.”
What’s her New Year wish?
“Wish ko, lahat tayo, mabigyan na ng vaccine para unti-unti, bumalik na ang buhay natin sa gaya ng dati. Kasi ngayon, nakakatakot pa ring lumabas. Gusto ko ngang dalawin ang anak kong si Niccolo sa America, pero andami pa ring cases ng virus doon.”
What can she say about the Christine Dacera case?
“Ayokong masabing sumasawsaw ako, tinatanong nyo lang ako, ha. Ang sagot ko, una bilang inang nawalan ng anak, masakit talaga so I can understand ‘yung nanay ni Christine. Sana, may she rest in peace na kasi nalibing na siya. ‘Yun namang mga inaakusahan, iba na ang social media ngayon, sana bago manghusga, himayin munang mabuti ang mga pangyayari bago tayo maging judgmental. Alamin muna natin ang mga tunay na nangyari, lalo na ang mga miembro ng LGBT na nilait na buong pagkatao nila, paano pa maibabalik ‘yung nasabi against them at ‘yung dating buhay nila kung mapatunayang inosente pala sila? Kawawa rin naman sila.”

Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado says she and her husband Sen. Bong Revilla were both teary eyed when their youngest daughter Gianna, got a proposal from her boyfriend, Jed Patricio, right on Christmas Day.
“Siempre, baby girl namin,” she said. “But then, she’s of age na naman at 25. Matagal na rin sila ni Jed. Nine years na, so we gave them our blessing.”
Gianna tried joining showbiz when she joined the GMA-7 youth oriented show, “Teen Gen,” but after some months, she chose to go back to her college studies. In his message for the young couple, Sen. Bong wrote: “Gianna and Jed, your engagement is an expression of God’s love. It is a blessing and gift that you should always cherish. Lagi nyo Siyang gawing sentro ng inyong pagmamahalan at uumpisahang buhay na magkasama. Honestly, nagulat ako anak, medyo nalungkot dahil baby girl pa rin kita, pero siyempre nandun ako sa kung ano ang ikakasaya mo.”
As mayor of Bacoor, Lani is an indefatigable public servant. “Nagkaroon kami ng dalawang malaking sunog last year and we helped in the relocation of the fire victims.”
She used to do movies and TV shows every now and then. Does she miss them?
“I do miss acting, meron pa rin offers sa TV, but then, sobrang busy nga ako ngayon as mayor so siempre, priority ko muna ang paglilingkod ko sa constituents ko.”
