ALBERT Martinez is happy to support former Miss International winner Kylie Versoza in her launching film in Vivamax’ “The Housemaid,” as directed by Roman Perez. He plays William, the billionaire married to Louise de los Reyes, with Kylie as their daughter’s nanny. Eventually, he and Kylie have an illicit love affair.
“This is an adaptation of a Korean hit thriller with the same title,” he says. “Mahirap gumawa ng ganito kasi I’m sure we will be compared doon sa original movie. Ang maganda sa version namin, it’s an ensemble performance at lahat kami ng buong cast nag-jibe in portraying our respective characters.”
He wants to commend all his co-stars, including Jaclyn Jose as their mayordoma and Alma Moreno as the mother of Louise, as they’ve all synchronized their performances to make
“The Housemaid” an effective drama-thriller. It’s his first time to work with their director.
“With Direk Roman, we always have a conference on how to treat and choreograph bawat scene. Ang maganda sa kanya, he listens to our inputs so this is very collaborative, even in the bed scenes.
“My character as William, bihira siya magsalita kaya ang atake ko, more on body language, movement of the eyes.”
It’s something new for him and he coordinated well with his director for his scenes.
“Nakakatuwa kasi lahat ng ginawa ko, nahuli lahat ‘yun ni direk sa kamera. First time ko to play a character like this, very powerful, very controlling. He wants to get whatever he wants so it’s an unforgettable role for me.”
Aside from “The Housemaid,” Albert has also finished taping for a new teleserye on GMA-7, “Las Hermanas” with Yasmien Kurdi, Jason Abalos, Thea Tolentino and Faith Da Silva. He is Faith’s love interest in the story and theirs is a May-December romance as he’s 60 years old and Faith is only 20.
It’s said that romance really bloomed between them on and off screen while taping the show in Pampanga. But we press people were told not to ask Albert any personal questions at the Zoom press con of “The Housemaid,” so no one was able to ask him about it.

‘I sent Hidilyn Diaz a direct message. I want to learn from her and train with her. — Derrick Monasterio’
Derrick Monasterio is one of GMA’s best bets as leading man since he’s tall at 6’1,” has movie star good looks, a hunky physique, acts well and also sings well. He has released a new single, “Virgo,” an upbeat dance song about a hopeless romantic now streaming in various music channels and is on iTunes.
“Before, I just did ballads, mga Martin Nievera, Josh Groban songs, but now I come out of my comfort zone to do a millennial dance song,” said Derrick. “It’s something new for me but this is more for my age group. I was scared but with the help of my arrangers, I felt I can do this and I’m proud na maganda naman ang kinalabasan. It’s nice to know I can do other kinds of song genres. This is the music of our generation and I hope listeners will enjoy it.”
His daring Bench pictorial in his underwear elicited a lot of provocative remarks from various folks who were very profuse in praising his sexy body. How did he feel that they’re very vocal in admiring him?
“Maraming ganong comments but I don’t find it offensive,” he said. “Parang compliment nga for me. Hindi naman nakakabastos. Wala namang indecent proposals.”
He’s glad to be part of “Legal Wives” as the love interest of Bianca Umali. “Mahirap ang sitwasyon namin kasi I’m a Christian and she’s a Muslim so hanggang tinginan lang kami,” he said. “Para maging effective ang character, dapat humahanga ka talaga sa tao at hindi mahirap gawin ‘yun kasi maganda naman talaga si Bianca.”
He says he has no love life at the moment. “One and a half year na rin ang last relationship ko. As of now, ligaw-ligaw muna. Meron akong kinakausap ngayon. Kumain ka na ba? Mga ganun. Getting to know stage pa lang. Showbiz din, but ‘di pa puedeng i-reveal kasi baka magalit ang fans since may ibang ka-love team siya. Maingat akong sumagot kasi baka ma-bash ako.”
He is also an athlete and wants to try weighlifting so he can join the Olympics someday. “I sent Hidilyn Diaz a direct message. I want to learn from her and train with her. Kailangan ko pang i polish ang technique ko. Kaya lang hindi naman siya nagre-reply.”

Rose Van Ginkel is lucky since some folks can’t find work in this pandemic but she is doing one movie after another and is now even being launched to stardom in the naughty sex-comedy “69+1.”
“During the pandemic, I did ‘Gusto Ko Maging Pornstar,’ ‘Gluta,’ ‘Revirginized’ and now, I play a major role in ‘69+1,’ all by Direk Darryl Yap,” she said. “So I’m very thankful to him and to Viva for giving me this big break.”
Rose started doing supporting roles with Viva in 2015 in “Talk Back You’re Dead.” She also did other movies like “Chain Mail” and “Indak.”
“69+1” is her biggest film to date but she admits she had qualms about doing it. “Kasi nga, sexy siya. Mahirap ‘yung movie kasi naiiba ang subject niya about polyamorous relationships. So I asked myself kung kakayanin ko ba, can I give it justice, but I trusted Direk Darryl. Isa pa, nakakahiya naman kung tanggihan ko siya, sinasabi na niyang ako raw talaga ang bagay doon sa movie.”
She had to psyche herself up well even before the shooting started. “Noong una, nahirapan ako kasi may mga gagawin ako ditong never ko pa nagawa before. Sa story, seven years na kami ni Ate Maui rito so we want to test ourselves, kaya kinuha namin si Kuya Janno to have a polyamorous relationship. First time ko to do a love scene. Tapos ang ka-love scene ko, babae pa. But I’m glad na ang ka-love scene ko is Ate Maui Taylor, kasi ang bait-bait niya at gina-guide niya ako. As lesbian lovers in the story, lagi niya akong kinakausap kasi alam niyang kinakabahan ako.”
Would she try a polyamorous relationship in real life? “Naku, hindi ko siya gagawin sa totoong buhay, kasi may pagka-conservative pa rin ang views ko. In real lilfe, it won’t work for me kasi selosa ako. But I’m glad na, at least, na-experience ko siya rito sa movie.”
Does she think real lesbians will watch their movie?
“May friends akong ganitong couple. Babaeng-babae sila pareho kung tingnan. Now, they’re both excited to watch ‘69+1,’ so feeling ko naman magugustuhan nila ito.”
