Martin del Rosario is currently better known for his villain role as Zardoz in “Voltes V Legacy.” And now, he gets to play another important character on the big screen in “The Cheating Game” as Brian, Julie Anne San Jose’s first boyfriend.
“The title is ‘The Cheating Game,’ but it’s not only about cheating but also lying,” he says. “For me, cheating and lying are mortal sins in any relationship. I mean, bakit mo itatago sa akin ang isang bagay if you really love me? How can we have peace in our relationship if you’re hiding something from me? For me, kapag ganoon, tapos na tayo.”
How does he feel when viewers hate him as Zardoz? “Okay lang, that’s to be expected as Zardoz wants to invade planet Earth. Pero may redemption naman later sa character niya. As Brian, maiinis din sa akin ang viewers kasi nga, he is a cheater. He cheated on Julie Anne San Jose in the story.”
How is it working with Julie Anne, Rayver Cruz and their director, Rod Marmol?
“Both Julie and Rayver, magaan katrabaho, even our other co-stars. Lahat ng nasa cast, puro magagaling na artista and si Direk Rod, sobrang chill lang, walang stress. Siya mismo ang sumulat sa script so he knows how to guide us para makuha mo ang tama ang character na ginagampanan mo. We’re all proud of our movie na showing na sa mga sinehan on July 26.”

Yen says initially, she wanted to be a singer. “Both my mom and dad are singers,” she adds. “I write my own songs, R&B and soul, and I’ve sang in bars. After I graduated from my masscomm at UST, the pandemic at maraming nawalan ng trabaho. Ton Lau, my stylist, asked me if I want to try acting and brought me to Viva. I didn’t really expect na mabibigyan ako agad ng ganitong solo movie.”
Did she have to ask her parents’ permission for her to go sexy? “No need to make paalam because I’ve always been independent. I just informed them and they’re both very supportive naman. My dad is an actor and he definitely understands the kind of job na pinasok ko.”
Has she had a boyfriend? “I’m now 24 and I’ve had three serious relationships na akala ko they’re the one na, pero hindi pala. I have a boyfriend now, non-showbiz, and he understands my work, but I told him not to watch my movies na lang.”
