Vivant Water, the water infrastructure arm of utilities conglomerate Vivant Corporation, is addressing the growing need for resilient water infrastructure in the face of climate change and water scarcity.
Atty. Jess Anthony Garcia, chief executive officer (CEO) of Vivant Water, laid out a comprehensive approach to harnessing seawater as a sustainable and reliable water source at the recent 30th Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) International Conference & Exhibition, held in the island of Boracay.
“At Vivant Water, we are working to integrate desalination technology into local water systems – sufficient to meet the needs of at least 100,000 people in Metro Cebu.” Garcia stated in his topic “Integrating Seawater for a Resilient Water Future.”
He also underscored the importance of diversifying potable water resources and how the collaboration of private and public sectors is detrimental to ensure water security for generations.
“We aim to protect the region’s limited freshwater resources by reducing pressure on groundwater aquifers. Through this initiative, the company hopes to create a climate-resilient future that safeguards Cebu’s future” Garcia explained.
As part of Vivant Corporation, a diversified, publicly listed holding company based in Cebu, Vivant Water focuses on delivering resilient and sustainable water management systems, including desalination, wastewater treatment, and integrated water resource management.
Vivant Water is committed to ensuring water security and sustainability through cutting-edge technologies and strategic partnerships. With a strong emphasis on innovation and collaboration, Vivant Water aims to improve everyday living by creating sustainable solutions to our changing world.
Garcia’s talk reinforced the conference’s overarching theme of advancing climate resilience and sustainability in the water sector.
