The Senate Committee on Public Services chaired by Sen. Grace Poe will begin today its investigation, in aid of legislation, on government issuances affecting shipping and logistics.

In a statement, the Association of International Shipping Lines, Philippine Liner Shipping Association, Alliance of Concerned Truck Owners and Organizations, Alliance of Container Yard Operators of the Philippines and Customs Brokers Federation of the Philippines said the Senate Committee on Public Services will look into the increased shipping and logistic costs brought about by policy orders such as the creation of Trusted Operator Program-Container Registry and Monitoring System (TOP-CRMS).

The groups said TOP-CRMS will hurt the supply chain and will cause a spike in food prices in the country.

The groups said the committee will hear Senate Resolution No. 484, filed by Senator Risa Hontiveros, on the various administrative orders. These include central ticketing system; increased garbage collection fees and registration and monitoring of containers entering and exiting ports.
