THE Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) has increased the power allocation for two electric cooperatives in Mindanao to ensure stable electricity in the region for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine.
The state-run firm upgraded the power allocation of Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) from 16.8 megawatts (MW) to 42 MW, and Maguindanao Electric Cooperative (Magelco) from 10 MW to 17.88 MW capacity.
Overall, the two electric cooperatives will net 59.88 MW capacity this month as a temporary emergency measure, to make sure the hospitals and frontline services in the area will not experience power outages.
PSALM said it currently has 54 power customers in Mindanao, composed of electric cooperatives, industrial entities, and private and government corporations.
Magelco serves 44,156 consumers while Lasureco, 63,003.
