PPA approves port rate hikes for Manila North, Dumaguete

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will push through with the implementation of a port rate increase at the Manila North Harbor and Dumaguete Port this August.

In a series of memorandum circulars issued on July 17, PPA has approved the 10-percent upward adjustment in cranage rates of Manila North Harbor Port Inc. (MNHPI) and a 9-percent rate increase on 13 other services at the Manila port which will take effect on August 17 and August 18, respectively.

Jay Santiago, PPA general manager, on Friday said tariff adjustments will be implemented as approved by the PPA Board.

Santiago said the new rates will be effective 15 days after publication.

Under Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 004-2023, PPA said the cranage rate at Manila North Harbor will increase by 10 percent to P1,558.50 for loaded and P1,310.50 for empty container size of 20-footer and below.

For 20-footer, the rate per box  will stand at P2,180 for loaded and P1,689 for empty box.

Aside from the cranage rates increase, PPA under MC  No. 008-2023,  also approved the 9-percent upward adjustment in rates of 13 other services at Manila North Harbor.

These services include hustling of containers, lift on/lift off/, administrative fee, non-standard lifts, crane standby of 5,615 per hour or fraction; extra labor services, equipment rental; re-stowing of container re-stow via dock, weighing fees; lifting and closing of hatch cover; handling of gearbox, dangerous cargo area fee containerized DG (dangerous goods) and collection of garbage.

PPA also approved the cargo handling tariffs for foreign non-containerized cargoes, for non-palletized arraster at P108.45 per revenue ton and P27 per revenue ton for stevedoring.

For palletized, P84.50 per revenue ton for arrester and P19.10 per revenue ton for stevedoring.
