The government is set to launch by the end of the year the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) Information Portal, one of the programs which will ease exporting from the Philippines.
Bianca Sykimte, director of the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), said all information related to FTAs will be in one portal.
This will help exporters maximize the benefits of preferential tariffs offered by the FTAs.
A key feature of the platform is the rules of origin (ROO) simulator where companies can input information on the raw materials used and where they were sourced as well as the final product.
Sykimte said the ROO simulator will provide indication if the exports qualify to preferential rates in FTAs and in the Generalized System of Preferences.
“This is an empowering tool for Philippine exporters as on their own, they can determine if they qualify for the benefits,” she added.
Sykimte said the portal is one of the digitalization initiatives of the government.
