Exporters see sustainability practices as a key strategy in staying competitive in the global market and in transforming the Philippines as Southeast Asia’s hub for smart and sustainable manufacturing and services.
The Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) in a statement over the weekend said the group will launch select sustainability initiatives at next month’s National Export Congress (NEC) themed “Sustainability: Shaping the Future of Philippine Exports.”
Philexport said the group will pursue initiatives on sustainable materials and production methods, ethical sourcing, cost-effective strategies and responsible supply chains.
Three sessions at the NEC will look at the current sustainability practices of businesses and the broader impact of these efforts, the evolving landscape of sustainable exporting given government regulations, and promoting sustainable trade practices in women-led businesses.
The discussions aim to delve deeper on the growing awareness on the importance of sustainability and how it is shaping trends, influencing consumer behavior, and affecting economic dynamics worldwide. This year’s NEC will be held in Conrad Hotel in Pasay City on December 2 to 6.
