Fish unloading volume across all regional fish ports recorded a 34.7 percent annual increase in April , driven by a record volume, according to the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA).
PFDA said total fish unloading volume in April reached 60,256.88 MT compared with 32,694.01 MT in the same month last year.
Month-to-month, April unloading volume is 9 percent higher compared than March’s 55,277.46 MT, the highest fish unloading in the recorded history of PFDA.
Regional fish ports included in PFDA’s monitoring are Bulan in Sorsogon; Sual in Pangasinan; General Santos; Davao; Zamboanga; Lucena in Quezon Province; Iloilo; and Navotas.
Based on the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) monitoring of public markets in the National Capital Region, prevailing per kg retail price ranges as of Friday were at P120 to P260 for milkfish; P95 to P160 for tilapia; P160 to P280 for local galunggong; P240 to P360 for alumahan; P160 to P200 for bonito; P150 to P260 for salmon head; P80 to P200 for tamban; P270 to P450 for squid; and P140 to P300 for tambakol.
