Logistics solutions provider Wide Wide World Express (W Express) continues to expand and innovate its services to address growing demand.

Neil Cabreira, head of marketing at W Express, in an interview yesterday said the company invests in its outlets and fleet every year but declined to give a figure.

The company, he said, also recently offered visa facilitation and delivery as a value-added service.

According to Cabreira, part of W Express’ medium-term plan is to reach more areas in the provinces and make previously non-serviceable destinations part of the delivery scope by converting these routes as part of the network.

He did not identify these areas but said these are municipalities outside of city or town centers where W Express operates its hubs.

Cabreira said W Express is set to build five centers this year located in Iloilo, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna and Cebu.

The company now has 100 stores, majority of which are in malls, he added.

“We are strengthening our provincial reach with the advent of electronic commerce,” said Cabreira.

As a conduit of DHL Express, W Express derives bulk of its business from traditional courier service for corporate clients, from pharmaceutical to electronics, he said.

However, W Express has no plans to enter the last-mile delivery service where independent contractors are tapped as that market is saturated, he added.

“There are too many players in that space. It is a different business model. In our case, W Express owns all of its fleet,” Cabreira said.

In the domestic logistics business-to-business space, he said the company intends to maintain its strength as it slugs it out with local players.

Cabreira said in May, the company started offering visa facilitation and delivery for travelers to Korea, in addition to the visa processing being done for Qatar and Kuwait which the company started 10 years ago.
