Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) said its sees a huge potential for high-powered outboard engines for sea vessels for security patrol, commercial use and tourism in the country.
Honda president Sayaka Arai said this at yesterday’s launch of Hondas’ flagship outboard engine B350 V8 in Manila that provides advanced marine technology suited for the country’s waters and climate, ensuring performance and value for vessel owners.
The launch expands the partnership of HPI with local distributor Propmech Corp. for Honda’s marine lineup.
Arai said since the partnership with Propmech began over a decade ago, HPI has delivered close to 1,000 outboard engines to the commercial market and key government agencies, such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police.
While Honda is known for its high-performing products in the automobile and motorcycle market, the popular Japanese brand is also a pioneer of the four-stroke outboard motor in the marine industry, HPI said.
Glenn Tong, Propmech president, said the Honda BF350 is Honda’s most advanced outboard motor, featuring a V8 engine designed for longer, smoother journeys.
Tong said compared to similar-sized engines, the BF350 is 20 percent more fuel efficient.
“Equipped with intelligent fuel management and Honda’s VTEC and BLAST technology, the BF350 ensures efficiency, acceleration, and reliability for both private and commercial marine applications,” he said.
