The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has surpassed its collection goal in June, and also exceeded its revenue target for the first half of the year.
In a statement, BOC said despite the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 to the overall trading environment and stringent community quarantine since last year, the BOC collected P52.45 billion last month, surpassing its target of P47.18 billion by 11.2 percent.
The BOC’s collection for the month is also 23.12 percent higher than the amount generated in June last year of P42.6 billion.
“These collection efforts also mark the sixth consecutive month of BOC in achieving positive collections,” the BOC said.
To date, the BOC collected P302.74 billion, surpassing its mid-year collection target of P291.83 billion by 3.7 percent.
The agency’s first semester revenues this year is also 19.6 percent higher than the P253.09 billion first half collection in 2020.
“The collection performance of the BOC is attributed to the improved valuation of the bureau, its digitized and modernized systems, the gradually improving economy resulting to higher volume of importations and the intensified collection efforts of all districts,” the agency said.
