The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) said that improved fish deliveries are further expected this year as rehabilitation of several regional fish ports in the country are nearing their completion.

Based on an internal publication of the agency, PFDA said that rehabilitation of the Davao fish port complex is 84.96 percent complete while Iloilo fish port complex is at 80.95 percent completion rate with the Sual fish port halfway done at 49.23 percent completion rate.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga fish port complex logged a 27.77 percent completion rate while the Camaligan fish port recorded a 21.74 percent completion rate by the end of December 2022.

PFDA said the renovation and improvement of the Navotas fish port complex is also progressively moving closer to completion but did not provide further details on its completion rate.

The agency said that since Navotas fish port is the leading fish supplier for the whole National Capital Region and nearby provinces in Central and South Luzon, its revitalization will soon cater to more clients and stakeholders.

As of end-December, PFDA said that the Lucena fish port complex was completed which will allow Quezon Province to be the center of fish trading in Southern Luzon.
