The Philippines is stepping up efforts to secure global partnerships in nuclear power as it prepares to add the energy source to its supply mix by 2032.

The Department of Energy (DOE) said the second Philippine International Nuclear Supply Chain Forum (PINSCF) will advance talks with international players into “concrete partnerships and strategies” aimed at strengthening nuclear supply chains. The event will be held on October 2–3 at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Taguig City.

“Last year’s forum laid the groundwork for meaningful engagement between the Philippines and the international nuclear community. This year’s edition will advance those conversations into concrete partnerships and strategies to strengthen nuclear supply chains,” Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said in a statement on Tuesday.

She added: “By convening global leaders in the nuclear supply chain, the Philippines is signaling its readiness to engage at the highest level and ensure that its path to nuclear energy development is guided by world-class expertise and safe, sustainable practices.”

Delegates are expected from Argentina, China, Finland, France, Hungary, Japan, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Themed “Building a Strategic, Adaptive, Future-Ready and Empowered Philippine Nuclear Supply Chain for Sustainable Industrial Growth,” the forum will focus on supply chain resilience, nuclear safety, and the country’s roadmap for nuclear integration.

The first PINSCF in 2024 gathered government, industry, academic, and diplomatic stakeholders and highlighted advances in nuclear construction, operations, and regulation. That forum laid the foundation for the Philippines’ plan to build its first nuclear power plant.

Under the Philippine Energy Plan 2023–2050, the government targets 4,800 megawatts of nuclear capacity in the energy mix through 2040, positioning the technology as a key pillar for reliable supply, carbon reduction and meeting climate commitments.
