Waltermart opens in Baliwag

WalterMart, the Philippines’ leading community mall, continues its thrust of bringing the good life to more Filipino families as it opens its 38th mall in Baliwag, Bulacan. 

WalterMart Supermarket offers farm fresh seafood and oriental produce, International Flavors and Healthy Organic sections.

Aside from the W Department Store and Abenson Home, branded essentials and value items are carried by Ace Hardware, Watsons, Japan Home Centre and Mr DIY. Amusement, Service lanes and Cyberzone open to cater #MoretoLove experience like Funhouse, BDO, Core Pacific, Delco, Samsung, Rulls, Infinix, Gadget Suit.

Food selections include KFC, Chatime, Angel’s Pizza, Figaro, Famous Belgian Waffle, Waffle Time, Buko Juan, Eng Bee Tin and at the food court are Ate Rica’s Bacsilog, Paotsin, Turks, Siomai House, Potato Corner, Takoyakings, Goto Pilipinas and more. 

There are Free 250 parking slots, and Happy Hatid jeep for commuters.  Waltermart Supermarket has also grown its online ordering capability via Grocery Delivery site, waltermart.com. 

InLife Cebu’s outreach

As part of its continuing assistance to 45 families in Sitio Polton, Insular Life (InLife) Cebu office has conducted outreach activities in partnership with the Insular Foundation and the Missionaries of Africa. 

InLife employees conducted a values formation session for children, and turned over school supplies to 43 student-beneficiaries from the Foundation’s adopted families.

InLife financial advisor Vanessa Abelgas discussed budgeting tips, while NORFIL Foundation’s Tess Ygnacio Parker discussed responsible parenthood in a separate session attended by 43 mothers.  

Globe is Industry Champion of the Year

Peri Peri expansion

Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc.  plans to scale up the expansion of Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar  this year as it announced new stores opened in late 2022. 

Peri-Peri,  the second largest restaurant chain under the Shakey’s portfolio, opened new stores in Norther Luzon,  the Clark International Airport and its 60th, in Malate, Manila.

Innovative store formats were also rolled out such as the fly-through in BF Homes Aguirre, which was initially a Peri Junior store.

In December, the charcoal chicken chain opened in Baguio City, Tuguegarao City, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija and Cauayan, Isabela. 

Peri-peri has  68 stores to date.

PDO Kaagapay sa Hanap-Buhay

Pueblo de Oro Development Corp. (PDO), in collaboration with the Ang-Hortaleza Foundation Inc. (AHFI), conducted the Kaagapay sa Hanap-Buhay: Community Livelihood for Women program which provides entrepreneurship training for women from its adopted community in Barangay Carmen, San Fernando, Pampanga. 

The workshop focused on running a home-based carinderia or food stall.

Pueblo de Oro has partnered with AHFI since 2016 to teach women in its host barangays in Bataan, Batangas, and Pampanga to utilize their skills to start and run small businesses. It is part of Pueblo de Oro’s social welfare initiatives that provide employment opportunities, training programs, and life skills workshops to benefit these communities.

Toyota’s great deals

This January, Toyota Motor Philippines has special offers and great deals in all authorized Toyota dealers nationwide through the Pay Low, Pay Light, or Cash Savings options.

UPS Premier launched

UPS Healthcare  has announced that UPS Premier is now available to customers in the Philippines. UPS Premier is a highly specialized, best-in-class shipping service combining a new level of tracking, prioritization and recovery for patient-critical, time- and temperature-sensitive shipments. 

Of the three levels in the UPS Premier service portfolio available globally, UPS Premier Gold is now available in the Philippines. UPS Premier Gold offers acceleration and ‘first-in first-off’ prioritization, and near real-time monitoring made possible through state-of-the-art proprietary mesh sensors built into the package labelling to narrow visibility down to three meters within the UPS network. 

Other benefits include an expedited package recovery process that allows the shipper to configure specific handling instructions should an intervention be required, plus capacity for same day redelivery. UPS Premier provides temperature-controlled shipping in environments spanning ambient to frozen, depending on specific shipment requirements. 

Buying crypto made easy

Users of the digital wallet Pitaka can now purchase cryptocurrencies directly with Philippine peso and pay using their debit cards, credit cards, GCash, Maya, GrabPay, and ShopeePay within the app. 

Tetrix, the Filipino-led web3 company behind the digital wallet, has announced its partnership with Transak as its fiat on-ramp support.

Pitaka is a self-custodial digital wallet that allows users to store their crypto assets and interact with NFT marketplaces, play and earn games, decentralized autonomous organizations  and decentralized finance applications. With Transak’s integration, users do not have to switch to another service and go through many intermediate steps to buy crypto. 

Transak is a Web3 onboarding infrastructure provider that enables applications to accept fiat-to-crypto deposits from a global user base. 

Bayad partners with Eplayment

Bayad, the largest multi-channel payment platform in the Philippines, ties up with Eplayment, a creator and esports platform aggregator, through its flagship product, the Eplayment wallet.

Marrying the experience of fintech and entertainment, Eplayment launched Epaygames in 2020, with the goal of extending e-wallet service. 

Apart from enabling fund transfer, prepaid loading, and digital purchase of game and entertainment credits Bayad now powers the bill payment capability of Eplayment covering services for utilities, cable and internet, government contributions, loan payments, school tuition fees, online shopping, insurance, and many others.

The partnership will soon enable game publishers, content creators, and other entertainment merchants to monetize their content and accept payouts through Bayad’s physical and digital payment touchpoints.

Irresistible deals

Travelers from the Philippines can look forward to special New Year promotional fares to London, Paris, New York, Madrid and more when they fly with Emirates this 2023.

TaskUs appointments

TaskUs Inc. , a provider of outsourced digital services and next-generation customer experience to fast-growing technology companies, officially announced the appointment of the regional heads for two of its markets: Dean Van Ormer as senior vice president for Southeast Asia (SEA), and Bogdan Surdea as division vice president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Both will continue leading their regions’ workforce and operations and report to TaskUs chief operating officer Stephan Daoust.

Van Ormer has over 25 years of professional experience in outsourcing operations, primarily in roles in the United States and SEA. Surdea is a seasoned veteran in the outsourcing space with extensive experience in delivering services across multiple industries. 

 AXA Ph empowers women

AXA Philippines has partnered with online financial literacy platform Bixie to make insurance more accessible to women.

AXA Philippines’ micro insurance products will be available via the Bixie app. Those interested to apply will go through a less complicated application process. The application involves less paperwork, making it easier to purchase insurance and get themselves protected. 

Bixie is a platform that connects women who want to invest with the knowledge, network, and tools they need to start investing. The company uses UBX, an open finance platform that provides an extensive network of financial institutions and embedded solutions.

AXA Philippines will also be providing microinsurance to 500 Filipina small and medium enterprise  owners, who were selected through the Catholic Relief Services .    

Training on online learning 

Far Eastern University (FEU) has worked with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to train faculty members of all institutions for online learning. 

The FEU Institute of Education (IE) continues to roll out programs for teachers and public and private academic institutions to achieve a flexible student-centered and future-ready learning and deliver high quality of education for all learners.

Since October, FEU IE has been conducting a series of webinars for public and private school teachers headed by its graduate school called the Graduate Online Academic Lecture Series. 

FEU also opened a Teaching Expo to the public as an avenue for educators to exhibit and exchange their best practices in teaching and assessment at specific levels. 

FEU Course Refresher in Assessing and Facilitating Teaching-Learning also equipped teachers with the skills needed for face-to-face classes.
