PLDT, Smart ramp up ‘Buy Local’
PLDT and its wireless unit Smart extended ‘malasakit’ or compassion to distressed farmers in Luzon.
Teaming up with social enterprise Rural Rising Philippines, PLDT and Smart employees and their contractors participated in the Box-All-You-Can event during the companies’ Sustainability Week celebration.
The gamified activity gives participants 10 minutes to fill their boxes with fruits and vegetables sourced from farmers in Benguet, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, and Pampanga who were burdened with unsold goods due to the products’ visual and physical imperfections.
Tucked under PLDT and Smart’s ‘Buy Local’ program, 250 boxes of fruits and vegetables were purchased during the companies’ Sustainability Week. PLDT and Smart donated 63 boxes to Solidarity of Orphans and Widows and ChildHope Philippines Foundation. Employees of the two companies purchased 63 boxes for their own needs while PLDT and Smart handed over 124 boxes to the companies’ building maintenance and security personnel.
Toyota enhances used vehicle program
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is further expanding the possibilities for its customers by strengthening its used vehicle program.
Now called T-Sure, Toyota Quality Pre-owned Cars (T-Sure), the program offers an alternative to consumers who are looking for worry-free car purchase options without compromising quality, value, safety, and excellent service.
Previously known as Toyota Certified Used Vehicle, T-Sure will now be the brand that will be used in Toyota dealerships that will be offering quality used cars to their clientele.
The “T” stands for Toyota and “Sure” denotes trustworthiness.
The T-Sure Program seamlessly has a well-established systematic operation for assessment, refurbishment, pricing, certification, and warranty to ensure the quality of vehicle condition of every unit.
Major improvements include the expansion of T-Sure dealer outlets nationwide which can offer trade-in deals and selling of pre-owned cars. All outlets now accept trade-ins, while T-Sure Retail outlets have increased to 29 outlets as of September 2022. TMP targets to end the year with 33 T-Sure Retail Dealers.

Isuzu San Pablo breaks ground
Isuzu Philippines Corp. together with Gencars, Inc., formally held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new site of one of Isuzu’s long-established dealerships, Isuzu San Pablo.
The relocation of Isuzu San Pablo signifies the continuation of Gencars’ commitment and confidence to the Isuzu brand.
With the bigger and improved Isuzu San Pablo which will incorporate the Isuzu Outlet Standard (IOS), IPC, together with Gencars, will be able provide better over-all customer experience to their patrons in San Pablo, Laguna.
IPC executives headed by president Noboru Murakami and Gencars, Inc. executives headed by chairman and CEO D. Edgard Cabangon led the groundbreaking ceremony and ceremonial installation of the time capsule on the new location of Isuzu San Pablo along Km 85 Maharlika Highway, Barangay San Ignacio, San Pablo City, Laguna.
Alsons Dev new director
Alsons Development and Investment Corp. (Alsons Dev) has appointed former Sarangani Gov. Miguel Dominguez as its new director.
As director, Dominguez oversees Alsons Dev’s business strategy and operations.
Dominguez concurrently serves as director of Alsons Aquaculture Corp. , trustee for the Philippine Business for Social Progress and Philippine Business for Education; board member of the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce; vice chair of the Galing Pook Foundation and Eisenhower Fellowships Association of the Philippines; and trustee of Synergeia Foundation.
Dominguez earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Boston College in 1999 and recently completed his master’s degree in public administration at Harvard University.
