The University of the Philippines – Diliman College of Engineering (UP COE), the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation (UPERDFI), and the UP National Engineering Center presented the 2024 Professional Chair Awards (PCA) at the UP Institute of Civil Engineering on November 25, 2024.
Themed FAST TRACK: (Filipino Engineers for the Advancement of Science and Technology Through Research and Collaborative Knowledge-Sharing) Engineering Research Towards Achieving Philippine Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this year’s colloquium will highlight innovative research contributions conducted by 138 PCA awardees.
Presentations were grouped into the following thematic areas to highlight the pressing issues and opportunities aligned with the respective SDGs: Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3); Quality Education and Strong Institutions (SDG 4 &16); Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6); Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7); Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9); Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11); Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12); and Climate Action (SDG 13).
The PCA Colloquium is part of the broader One UP Professional Chair and Faculty grant awards program, which aims to uplift academic standards across all constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System. The program has allocated significant funding to support faculty members who demonstrate excellence in their field.
Open to the public, the event serves as a platform for recognition and as an opportunity for collaboration between industry leaders, government policymakers, fellow researchers, students, and citizens.
