Aboitiz Power Corporation subsidiary Therma South Inc. (TSI) recently released 84 olive ridley sea turtle, or pawikan, hatchlings following the nesting of 120 eggs along the power plant’s coastline in Davao del Sur last March.
In total, TSI and the Environmental Management Bureau, along with local experts, have helped over 300 hatchlings find their way to the sea.
While the most abundant of all sea turtles, olive ridleys are considered vulnerable because of unnatural threats from human activities and nesting site degradation.
TSI continues to promote environmental stewardship and communal responsibility in its host communities of Davao City and Sta. Cruz.
