Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently launched the highly anticipated Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw, introducing multi-awarded actor Coco Martin as its new brand ambassador. The event, held on December 6, 2024, took place simultaneously across eight locations nationwide, marking a significant milestone for this iconic vehicle known for its reliability and adaptability in Filipino households and businesses.
The Next Generation Tamaraw is designed to meet the evolving needs of the Philippine market while retaining its roots as a versatile people and goods mover. Built on Toyota’s global IMV platform, this modernized version offers innovative features for both personal and commercial use. Available in diesel and gas variants, it includes multiple body styles such as Utility Van, Dropside, and Aluminum Cargo, catering to diverse passenger and cargo requirements.

In conjunction with the launch of the Next Generation Tamaraw, TMP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to support the Tamaraw Conservation Program (TCP). This partnership focuses on protecting the critically endangered Tamaraw species, which is endemic to Mindoro Island. Under this MOU, TMP will donate a new Tamaraw vehicle along with PHP 500,000 worth of “Bantay Tamaraw” kits for ranger gear and supplies. Additionally, TMP pledges a PHP 3 million conservation fund to support habitat monitoring, research initiatives, and programs for local communities involved in conservation efforts.
The Next Generation Tamaraw features various configurations designed for different business needs. The Utility Van offers a spacious interior with built-in rear A/C for comfort, while the Dropside allows for easy loading with its large deck space. The Aluminum Cargo is built for durability, capable of transporting both dry and wet goods.
Pricing for the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw starts at PHP 937,000 for the 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T LWB variant. TMP also plans to introduce a gas-powered short wheelbase variant starting below PHP 800,000. The top-of-the-line 2.4 GL Dropside DSL A/T LWB variant is priced at PHP 1,075,000 and includes essential safety features such as airbags and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS).
