Tanduay, Bacolod to host Rum Festival

The City of Smiles and the World’s Number 1 Rum have joined forces again to host the country’s Rum Festival to boost tourism in Bacolod City.

Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival runs from August 12 to 20, a fitting prelude to the MasskaraFestival in October, in various venues in the city.

The festival will also showcase the craftsmanship, skill, and artistry of Bacolodnons through various events such as the Barrel Art, Bottle Design, and Street Art Competitions.

Bacolod’s famed culinary culture will also be under the spotlight through the highly-anticipatedCulinaria Competition.  Flairtending and Mixology contest will likewise take place.

The highlight of the Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival will close at the NGC Complex with Street Dance Fusion and Float Competition and a rock concert.

Online payments partnership

The Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) and MYEG Philippines (MYEG PH) recently inked a memorandum of agreement to provide citizens with a more efficient, secure, hassle-free, and reliable online payment system for DOH transactions.

The partnership will allow payments for permits, licenses, accreditation, authorization, registration, certification, clearances, violations, and other DOH transactions that will benefit hospitals, health facilities, health workers, and other clients of DOH in Metro Manila.

The MMCHD is the first DOH Office to make online payments available. The online payment system through the MyEG platform myeg.ph supports the Republic Act No. 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act, and Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 170. These issuances mandate all government departments and agencies to adopt a digital payment system for government disbursements and collections to promote efficient delivery of services, expedite transactions, boost revenue and reduce the risk of graft and corruption.

Meralco recognized for ESG excellence

The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has been recognized as one of the most socially and environmentally responsible companies globally.

UK-based FTSE Russell, a global sustainability index provider, announced Meralco’s inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series–specifically in the FTSE4Good Emerging Index and in the FTSE4Good ASEAN 5 Index.

Meralco is the second power company in the Philippines recognized by FTSE Russell for outstanding sustainability performance.

The FTSE4Good Index Series is a set of global sustainability indices that measure the performance of companies in key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas such as climate change, labor standards, and anti-corruption.

To be included in the FTSE4Good Index, a company in an emerging market must achieve an overall ESG rating of 2.9 or higher.

Nestlé appointment

Nestlé Philippines chairman and CEO Kais Marzouki has announced the appointment of Jose Uy III as head of Corporate Affairs effective July 2022.

Prior to this appointment, Uy was the business executive officer of Lifestyle Beverages & Confectionery of Nestle in the country.

Uy who joined Nestlé in 1990, brings 32 years of management and leadership experience to Corporate Affairs where he will spearhead public affairs, corporate communications, and sustainability including Creating Shared Value initiatives of Nestlé Philippines.

Uy is a graduate of De La Salle University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree major in Marketing Management.
