A veteran public relations professional regarded as a PR icon in the Philippines and an internal communications expert from India bagged the top honors at the IABC Asia Pacific 2022 Communicator of the Year Awards.
Charlie Agatep from the Philippines won in the executive leader category, while Aniisu Verghese, Ph.D., from India won in the senior communication professional category.
2022 marked the first time for communicators in Asia to win the top plums in the coveted annual awards program organized by IABC Asia Pacific which has 12 chapters in eight countries and members-at-large throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Agatep, chairman and CEO of Grupo Agatep, has led a team of dynamic public relations and advertising professionals towards award-winning campaigns over a long career that began in the 1950s. He has won accolades from different local and international award-giving bodies and taught PR and communications at some of the Philippines’ leading universities.
AXA in second place in total TPI
AXA Philippines rose to second place in total premium income (TPI) among top life insurers in 2021 with P38.9 billion.
Rising from number 3 in 2020, the company was also one of the few top life insurers that maintained its market share, keeping it at 12.6 percent, based on data recently released by the Insurance Commission.
AXA attributes its performance to its innovations to address and manage the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and protect and support Filipinos in new and relevant ways. It boosted its health segment with the successful launch of the new Health Care Access, a health plan designed for business owners, freelancers, and those looking for additional protection, which provides comprehensive and affordable health care coverage for hospitalization and other medical needs. This product is crucial for Filipinos, who usually pay for health emergencies out of pocket.
The company also expanded its potential customer base by exploring not just traditional channels, but digital ones as well.
GMA Network news pillars hailed
GMA Network as well as its news pillars Jessica Soho and Mike Enriquez consistently hold the Filipinos’ trust in the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Awards 2022.
In this year’s awarding ceremonies held on April 8, the Kapuso Network once again took the Platinum Award for the TV Network category — the highest honor among the most trusted brands.
Soho and Enriquez were likewise awarded as the most trusted personalities in their respective categories.
Reader’s Digest Hall of Famer Soho was hailed as the “Most Trusted TV Host for News and Current Affairs” for the 13th consecutive time. Enriquez earned his eighth award as the “Most Trusted Radio Presenter” as Filipinos continue to recognize his commitment to Serbisyong Totoo.
Lista’s ipon challenge
Financial management tool Lista through its newest features the Savings and Sales Target launched the Ipon Challenge which encourages every Filipino to set savings goals.
The Savings feature allows the user to track their savings for their next dream item whether it is a phone, car, or vacation, while the Sales Target feature will allow business owners to set a target profit for their business. Users will be able to customize their target timeline and amount using the feature.
Lista intends to make financial planning and literacy more accessible to millions of Filipinos, assisting entrepreneurs in managing their digital cash flow, normalizing debt collection or “paniningil ng utang” and now, helping them manage their personal budget and expand their enterprises through savings and goal setting.
Through the new features, each user can begin small, with a goal of as low as P500 or go big, with a car down payment. The Lista app includes features such as hosting “ipon challenges” and tracking users’ progress so they can stay on track with their goals.Participants are required to input savings at least twice a week, following their daily or weekly savings amount. The deadline to reach their goal is before May 30, 2022.
Prizes include brand new motorcycle, Macbook, mobile phone, Ikea gift certificate worth P10,000, and a summer getaway package for two.
FPIP, locators top taxpayers
First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and nine of its locators were recognized recently as top taxpayers by the host local government unit (LGU) of Tanauan City in Batangas.
They swept all the awards under the top 10 real property taxpayer category; seven locators, including FPIP sister company First Philec Inc., received their own recognitions under the top 10 biggest business taxpayer category. They have remitted to Tanauan City a total of P692.83 million in real property and business taxes in 2021.
Honda Philippines Inc. paid P150.28 million, making the company Tanauan City’s biggest source of business tax last year.
Philip Morris received an award as Tanauan City’s biggest source of RPT (P135.7 million) and was likewise honored as the LGU’s third-biggest source of business tax (P11.34 million) last year.
First Philec received a plaque as Tanauan City’s fourth-biggest source of business tax (P8.4 million) last year and was eighth-biggest source of RPT, amounting to P28.11 million in 2021.
Others that made it to Tanauan City’s top 10 business taxpayers’ list were Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. (Murata), EEI Corp. (for its subsidiaries D&L Premium Foods Corp. and Natura Aeropack Corp. inside FPIP), Uni-President (Philippines Corp.), and Kerry Manufacturing (Philippines), Inc. Rounding up the list of awardees in the top real property tax category are Nestle, B/E Aerospace B.V., Brother Industries (Philippines), Inc., Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc., Murata, WCL Ventures Development, Inc., and JMS Healthcare Philippines Inc.
Future global leaders
Shopee continues to instill these fundamental traits into young, tech-driven talent through the Global Leaders Program (GLP) which is on its fourth iteration.
GLP is a two-year graduate program consisting of four six-month local and overseas rotations open to final-year students and young professionals with up to two years of working experience. Closing the care gap
Recent innovations in cancer care were the highlight of a forum organized by the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP), Department of Health (DOH), and Cancer Coalition of the Philippines (CCPH), with support from Johnson & Johnson (Philippines), Inc. (J&J Philippines).
Across its global network, Johnson & Johnson is at the forefront and on a continuing journey to support both patients and stakeholders in the fight against cancer.
Among the healthcare giant’s priorities is prostate cancer, which is one of the top 5 cancers in the Philippines. To help fight the disease, J&J Philippines launched a second generation anti-androgen that provides significant treatment benefits for patients diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
Blood cancer is another area of focus for J&J Philippines. Through the years, the company has developed a portfolio of innovative medicines and therapies for treatment of lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Together with the Philippine government and some medical associations, J&J Philippines also works to educate the public about prostate and blood cancer to encourage possible patients to seek proper consult, and to let them know of treatment options and other support available to them.
Apprenticeship program
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) and Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc. jointly committed to an apprenticeship program that will further hone the technical skills of select students taking the course Electromechanics Technology.
The partnership with HCPI will benefit the students because their training will include the use of HCPI’s facilities and equipment, and they will be coached by globally trained Honda Service Technical Associates.
In the near future, they will be ready to explore opportunities in car dealerships, and Dealers, on the other hand, will have access to a pool of qualified technical experts.
The memorandum of agreement was signed on April 26 at HCPI head office in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
