Service champion award
Cebuana Lhuillier received the 2021 Service Champion Award from the Customer Service Institute of America (CSIA), the world’s leading customer service institute.
The award was bestowed to Cebuana Lhuillier for its efforts to provide its millions of clients unhindered access to its micro-financial services despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.
Cebuana Lhuillier’s quick response of the company to adapt to the rapidly changing environment impressed the judges. This secured the award for the company and gained them a spot in the elite roster of winners of the 2021 International Service Excellence Awards.

Globe aids Typhoon Odette victims
Globe collected a total of P36.7 million worth of donations for immediate assistance to over 16,000 families, and enabled Globe, TM, and GOMO customers to raise over P2.9 million more worth of aid for typhoon victims.
Globe, through its on ground teams, extended assistance to 5,094 families in communities across Palawan, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Bohol, Cebu, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Oriental, and Southern Leyte.
Efforts with partner organizations such as the Ayala Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and Rise Against Hunger Philippines, have also provided relief and support for 11,777 families in affected areas.
Globe also set up over 130 Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging sites across the affected regions, ensuring that typhoon survivors stay connected with their loved ones. Likewise, the company’s technical teams continue with tireless restoration work to bring services back to normal in the remaining affected areas.
“We know that this is still a difficult time for our kababayans. Typhoon Odette hit the country last December, but its effects are still being felt to this day. We want our customers to know that we are doing everything we can to serve and extend help in the affected communities,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability officer and SVP Group Corporate Communications Officer.

Signify Foundation and Signify Philippines through a partnership with the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) launched SINAG PAG-ASA which aims to provide evacuation centers with access to solar and electric floodlights, light tubes, and rechargeable light bulbs for use during emergencies and crises.
Initial beneficiaries include at least 63 evacuation centers across Metro Manila, Cavite, and Batangas, with more recipients reached the whole month of March.
Signify Foundation and Signify Philippines together with ASSIST tapped Philips Lighting for the project.
SoPa opens PH office
Society Pass Inc. (SoPa) announced the opening of its office in Manila along with the appointment of a new country head Arbie Pagdaganan.
The Makati site is SoPa’s second office in its VIP (Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines) priority markets and employs over 20 staff. This is targeted to grow to over 100 by the end of 2022.
Pagdaganan will lead SoPa’s aggressive new plans for Pushkart.ph which SoPa recently acquired.

‘Taste The Future Business Challenge’
Mondelēz International announced the launch of the Taste The Future Business Challenge, a virtual business competition at the Southeast Asia level that promotes Design Thinking principles.
The competition takes place from the end of March to June 2022 and is open to all undergraduate and post-graduate students with the best qualifications in the Southeast Asia region.
Each team will work on a design challenge: “How might MondelÄ“z International lead the future of snacking in Southeast Asia?”. Teams will be invited to an exclusive design thinking learning lab, equipping them with problem-solving skills and focused on consumer needs.

25 teams advance to next level in Smart’s InnoGen 2.0
PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has released the shortlist for the final selection round of Smart Prepaid Innovation Generation (InnoGen) 2.0. From the previous pool of 40 teams, Smart has advanced the top 25 teams to Phase 3 of the program.
Dubbed the ‘Giga 25’, the lucky innovators will receive the first tranche of the financial grant, as well as technology support from Smart, to help turn their proposed digital innovation into a minimum viable solution. The ‘Giga 25’ will also receive valuable guidance from the country’s youth innovators in the mentorship sessions to further refine their projects.
The teams will be working on a prototype of their project which they will present on Demo Day scheduled in May. The top teams will receive additional awards from Smart and the opportunity to pitch their digital innovation to Smart executives, the Philippine startup community including venture capitalists, and to their fellow youth innovators.
This year’s Innovation Generation features projects from student-participants tapping wireless or digital technology to create opportunities for community development in disaster preparedness, education, environment, governance, inclusion, livelihood, sports, and tourism.
Smart Prepaid InnoGen 2.0 demonstrates the application of ICT for development, in support of the Group-wide advocacy of PLDT and Smart to promote digital inclusion. The initiative also aims to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly UN SDG No. 4 on providing quality education.
