Riders lounge at SM Olongapo Central

SM City Olongapo Central has set up a special Rider’s Lounge for delivery riders waiting for their orders. The lounge has a charging station where delivery partners could charge their mobile phones. The mall also has dedicated a parking area for motorcycle and Food Panda bicycle delivery riders. Since the coronavirus outbreak, food delivery riders have become a key part of essential services, and the lounge is one way the mall, an MGCQ area, has shown its appreciation for them.

UPMG members win at 2021 Philippine Quill Awards

United Print Media Group (UPMG) members won big in the recently concluded 18th IABC Philippine Quill Awards, with the UPMG corporate secretary and Adobo Magazine CEO, Angel Guerrero, leading the way with an IABC CEO EXCEL Award.

The prestigious event, staged virtually for the first time in the history of the Awards on March 25, is held annually to recognize the best in the business communication industry. The winners are evaluated using the highest global standards of the US-based International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). This year’s event was themed “Arise” in view of the ongoing pandemic.

UPMG member Business World Publishing Corp won the Philippine Quill Excellence Award for CovidComms 2020: Business World Insights: An Online Forum Series Phases 1 and 2 Communications Skills Category 19 Special and Experiential Events.

Media Wise Communications Inc./Muse Books also bagged a Philippine Quill Excellence Award Communications Skills Category 23 Publications for the coffee table book FINEX 50 Leading On To Wider Frontiers, which it co-published with the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX).

Mekeni’s Bayani celebrates unsung heroes

Mekeni Food Corp. recognizes healthcare workers in its recently launched program, Tunay na Bayani Award.

Inspired by the grit, talent, and skills of Pinoy micropreneurs, Tunay na Bayani Award aims to recognize a new breed of exemplary Filipinos who had contributed to the development of the community in their own little way.

“The award is inspired by our very own Bayani product line that helps individuals to start a small business and ultimately provide means to support their families,” said Mekeni president Prudencio Garcia.

Mekeni will choose an awardee every month until December 2021.

Virtual Metro Community Bazaar bags award

The first Virtual Metro Community Bazaar (VMCB), the online collective shop- for-a-cause project of Metro Retail Stores Groups Inc. (MRSGI), has garnered a Merit Award in the 18th Philippine Quill Awards.

The citation recognizes the initiative of MRSGI and its partner, Vicsal Foundation Inc.  to conduct programs for the welfare of small businesses and their communities. The virtual format demonstrated MRSGI’s resolve to continue its CSR programs with its retail partners amid the pandemic restrictions.

With the theme “We Rise as One Metro Family,” the VMCB was launched in celebration of Corporate Social Responsibility Month in July 2020. It featured dynamic food selections and sustainable lifestyle merchandise from select social enterprise brands, along with fun learning activities such as skills and entrepreneurship training conducted by MRSGI’s CSR partners.

CitySavings’ Project Pink Goes Digital

Project Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Program for Teachers,  one of the signature corporate social responsibility programs of City Savings Bank Inc.  specifically designed for public school teachers was  held online for the first time recently as a Zoom webinar in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. – Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center.

More than 500 educators from all over the country joined the bank’s two webinars held last March 18 and 26. This is in line with CitySavings’ celebration of National Women’s Month, the goal of which is to create programs that educate and empower women, especially teachers.

The event’s keynote speaker Dr. Amabelle Gerona, an oncologist based in Cebu City discussed how  teachers can detect, confirm, prevent, and treat breast cancer.

BPI-Philam combines health insurance with wellness program

RCBC wins Quill award

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) bagged another Quill award for a digital campaign that leveraged its digital platform as a way of moving forward amid the pandemic.

In partnership with Entropia CBR, the campaign ‘Every Step of the Way: How RCBC used digital to help clients move forward in the face of the pandemic’, brought to light the urgency of changing old habits given the pandemic and how the bank hand-holds its clients into the new way of banking through the RCBC mobile app.

The campaign used data analytics to understand its clients’ profiles, challenges, and needs during the pandemic and matched it with the right banking solution.

Since the bank’s massive digital transformation in 2019, many banking services have been digitized and integrated into RCBC’s digital platform to enable safe and secure remote banking, making the banking app one of the most comprehensive banking apps in the industry.

UnionBank wins seven Quill awards

The International Association of Business Communicators Philippines honored Union Bank of the Philippines seven outstanding internal and external communication programs and projects during the 18th Philippine Quill Awards virtual awarding ceremony held on March 25 via YouTube.

UnionBank bagged six  Excellence Awards and one  Merit Award and was also nominated as Top Company of the Year. The bank was cited for its exemplary use of communication in educating and equipping employees against COVID-19.
