Last October, The Great British Festival 2024 took center stage at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City. Organized by the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines and the British Council, the event marked Philippines-UK Friendship Day, celebrating decades of collaboration between the two nations. With a focus on education, technology, and environmental initiatives, the festival served as a platform to strengthen mutual socioeconomic growth and foster closer ties.

Among the esteemed guests were British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils. “It was 78 years ago that Britain was not well-known to Filipinos because we are farther. What we’ve been wanting to do is change that and not make us geographically distanced. Our relationship has grown.” Her words resonated with the festival’s mission  to bridge cultural and geographical divides.

The festival showcased a diverse array of stalls, featuring Filipino and British businesses, organizations, and educational institutions. SISFU was privileged to be among the exhibitors, presenting its unique position as a transnational education provider in partnership with leading UK institutions, De Montfort University and Pearson UK. The participation highlighted SISFU’s commitment to delivering globally recognized education in the Philippines.

Through its collaboration with De Montfort University and Pearson UK, SISFU offers Filipino students the opportunity to earn prestigious UK degrees without leaving the country. This transnational education model allows students to experience British academic rigor and standards while being immersed in their own culture. It is a transformative pathway that prepares students for international success and global opportunities.

A highlight of the festival was a talk by SISFU SHS and De Montfort University graduate, Kimberly Palet, who was invited by the British Council to speak about Study UK. Kimberly shared her inspiring journey and the unique advantages of pursuing transnational education at SISFU. She emphasized how the programme shaped her into a globally competitive professional, equipped with the skills needed for an interconnected world.

The two-day event also provided a vibrant platform for students, alumni, and educational institutions to interact, exchange ideas, and celebrate the richness of UKculture. From live performances to informative discussions, the festival created a space to explore the benefits of international education and cross-cultural collaboration.

SISFU’s participation in The Great British Festival 2024 reinforced the school’s commitment to promoting transnational education as a key driver for personal and professional growth. By showcasing its partnerships with UK institutions, SISFU aims to inspire Filipino students to pursue academic excellence and global careers without leaving the Philippines.

SISF looks forward to building on this milestone and strengthening its ties with the UK through education. Events like The Great British Festival are a testament to the enduring partnership between the Philippines and the UK, one that continues to open doors and create opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
