Smart Communications Inc. and value brand TNT on Saturday welcomed customers at the assisted SIM Registration booth deployed at the Municipal Court of Calumpit, Bulacan.

The set-up is part of the three-day, nationwide roadshow organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Department of Interior and Local Government and the National Telecommunications Commission, to boost SIM Registration and reach far-flung areas where mobile customers are.

As of January 27, Smart and TNT assisted SIM Registration booths are now operating in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; in Moalboal, Cebu; in Palo, Leyte; Pangantucan, Bukidnon; in Malalag, Davao del Sur; Calumpit, Bulacan’ Rosario, Batangas; Atok, Benguet; Camalaniugan, Cagayan; Zamboanga City; Baco, Oriental Mindoro; City of Ligao, Albay; Carles, Iloilo; Arakan, Cotabato; and Tagbina, Surigao del Sur. Smart and TNT personnel in the booths are also providing a priority lane for seniors, for persons with disabilities, and for those using basic phones, making SIM Registration as inclusive as possible. 

ABS-CBN programs now aired in Malaysia

ABS-CBN Corp. yesterday announced the launch of MYX Radio, MORe, and TeleRadyo on Malaysia’s leading digital radio platform digital radio platform.

AF Payments powers Davao transport system

AF Payments Inc. operator of beep yesterday introduced an advance booking system, which will first be implemented by Davao Metro Shuttle (DMS) in its Manila to Davao route, the longest bus route to date.

Starting January 27, AFPI said passengers can purchase and rebook tickets ahead at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) Terminal using their beep card or thru their advance booking hotline.

“With our new Advance Booking System feature, AF Payments Inc. is expanding the roster of solutions to continuously support the business needs of our partner transport operators nationwide. We work on these innovations in fulfillment of our shared end goal of improving the commuting experience of the riding public. This 2023, we hope to be able to bring our technology to more routes by doubling our efforts at reaching out to interested partners,” said Sharon Fong, AFPI chief commercial officer.

Davao Metro Shuttle has been a valued beep partner since November 2019. It operates inter-provincial buses that implement an AFCS, which includes Davao City Arakan; Davao City to Kidapawan; Davao City to Butuan City; C.P. Garcia to Roxas; Catalunan to Roxas; Ormoc City to Sogod; and Tacloban City to Calbayog City vice versa. Its latest route–PITX to Ecoland Terminal in Davao City–was launched in June 2022.

SIM registration will help fight fraud, fake bookings

foodpanda welcomes the implementation of Republic Act No. 11934 otherwise known as the SIM (subscriber identification module) Registration Act saying this is a necessary step in combating the proliferation of fraudulent activities such as fake bookings of food deliveries that affect restaurants, riders, customers, and digital platforms alike.

“The steep rise of digital transactions over the years has led to the growing number of incidents of fraud and scams,” said foodpanda Philippines CEO Daniel Marogy. “Even online delivery services did not escape the malicious attacks of scammers as some have also been victimized by prank orders and fake bookings.”

“With the law, foodpanda, its customers, partner vendors, and delivery partners are able to file complaints against fraudsters including those utilizing prepaid SIMs. 

Marody said foodpanda has key safety measures to promote the protection and welfare of their entire ecosystem. 

These include  pandAware campaign where provide tips and reminders on certain online safety hygiene and the no abono policy where delivery partners do not shell out any of their money to pay vendors upfront before delivery.

Alsons donation

The Alsons Power Group’s Western Mindanao Power Corp. (WMPC) turned over emergency vehicles and medical equipment worth P6.4 million to the City Government of Zamboanga at the start of the new year. 

Under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Regulation 1-94 (ER 1-94) power generators such as WMPC, allot ₱0.0025 per kilowatt hour of total electricity sales to help fund the host community and local government’s health, electrification, and environmental projects.

 #InAko campaign wins awards

Insular Life’s (InLife) digital campaign that challenges the Filipino women to be more financially responsible won three Canopus (Platinum) Awards in the Vega Digital Awards 2022.

The InLife Sheroes Advocacy and Movement’s #InAko campaign walked away victorious with top awards in the following Digital Marketing Campaign Categories: Social Campaign, Cause-Related Campaign and Marketing Effectiveness.

More than 4 million Filipinas sang along to the #InAko music video, and more than 300,000 watched the livestream event.

PJ Lhuillier signs partnership with DTI

A delegation of 18 Philippine companies will showcase premium halal-certified food products through a country exhibit at the Gulf Food Hotel and Equipment Exhibition and Salon Culinaire, or Gulfood, to be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates from February 20 to 24.
