Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) officially launched its Tap-to-Phone payment solution at One Ayala Concourse, becoming the first commercial bank in the Philippines to introduce this innovative technology that empowers micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

RCBC Tap-to-Phone transforms any NFC-enabled Android smartphone into a secure point-of-sale terminal without traditional card readers. The solution also generates QR codes and electronic receipts, enabling MSMEs to streamline sales and payment tracking with minimal cost and maximum ease.

“This isn’t just a payment tool. It’s an equalizer. It’s a way to bring more people into the formal economy. To help our small businesses grow stronger, earn faster, and serve better,” said Reggie B. Cariaso, RCBC President and CEO.

The technology enables even the smallest vendors to join the digital payments ecosystem as part of RCBC’s broader commitment to financial inclusion and innovation.

“With Tap-to-Phone, we’re breaking barriers that once seemed impossible. Imagine this: with just a smartphone — a seller can now accept card payments, safely and instantly, without the need for bulky terminals, costly hardware, or complicated setup. This is not just a convenience. This is a game-changer,” said Arniel Vincent B. Ong, RCBC Credit Cards President and CEO.

The launch event featured 25 accredited Mercato Centrale merchants demonstrating the convenience of cashless transactions by accepting Mastercard and Visa credit and debit card payments through customers tapping their cards or mobile wallets on NFC-enabled Android smartphones.
