In a related development, PWWA and the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) recently met with Senior Deputy Speaker Hon. Aurelio “Dong” D. Gonzales Jr., a key Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) member, to discuss national water security issues including flood control, irrigation, and the proposed Department of Water Resources.
Deputy Speaker Gonzales emphasized the need for unified water management, suggesting the proposed department oversee flood control with the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) serving as coordinator. This comprehensive approach aims to address the country’s water challenges systematically.
These discussions represent significant progress toward a more sustainable and coordinated national water security strategy.
